College Football Baker's Dozen - Week 6

It’s almost Saturday again and time to make that money! FanDuel really did all the “sharp” players a favor this week by giving out some very soft salaries. I think this will lead to the GPPs almost being a crapshoot to win, but I think the 50/50s and H2Hs could be a bit of a gold mine.

Here are the 13 things I am looking forward to this week!

1) Devon Johnson (Marshall) – I know the initial thought that everyone has targeting this game is Rakeem Cato, but I think the best play in this game will be Devon Johnson. Just look what opposing RBs have done to ODU this season. ODU gives up huge chunks of yards and loads of rushing TDs. I think he makes a great GPP and cash game play.

2) Bowling Green & Buffalo – Bowling Green is becoming a weekly target, both for and against their defense is putrid and as long as they aren’t playing a big five conference they can score at will. FanDuel has the players in this game price low. My favorite plays from this game are James Knapke, Travis Greene, Anthone Taylor, Roger Lewis and Ron Willoughby.

3) Melvin Gordon on DraftKings – His salary dropped this week to $7700 and the Badgers go up against Northwestern. At this price point I can’t think of a single reason to not plug him into every single lineup. I think his floor is 125 and a TD. Gordon is the first premier RB that Northwestern has gone up against this year. It also doesn’t hurt that last year vs. NW, Gordon went for 172 and a TD.

4) Clint Trickett & Kevin White (West Virginia) – These two appear to be on the same page this season and they get a KU team who is in some serious flux after firing their coach. I think that White is definitely going to get his 10 receptions and 125 yards. The only down side I see to Trickett is a blowout, which means he may not throw for 300+.

5) Sefo Liufau & Nelson Spruce – FanDuel must not have watched last weeks games or read the box scores, because these two accounted for about 100 fantasy points, and their salaries didn’t seem to move a bit. The Colorado offense is pretty simple; Liufau throws to Spruce. I don’t think that is going to change this week.

6) J.T. Barrett & Ezekiel Elliott – Urban Meyer found his Carlos Hyde-like workhorse last week and I think he rides him into Maryland this week. Barrett has been one of the most consistent QBs this year and is just getting better each week. I think Maryland is about to start their annual losing streak, and I can see OSU blowing Maryland out in this one. Even if Maryland keeps it close they should still get their stats.

7) Jeremy Langford (Michigan State) – I like Langford a LOT this week, especially on DraftKings with that $4700 price tag. Don’t let his slow start fool you. Langford was dealing with an ankle injury the first month of the season and last week was his first game at full strength He gained 137 yards on just 16 carries. He should see 25+ touches this week, and last season Langford had 174 total yards and three TDs AT Nebraska. This year the game is at home. I have Langford as one of my top five plays this week and my #1 RB on DraftKings.

8) Washington State & California – This game should be a repeat of last week’s Cal/Colorado game. Both teams are going to throw for 350+ and probably score 30+ each. My favorites in this game are Halliday, Dom Williams, Vince Mayle, River Cracraft, Jared Goff and Daniel Lassco.

9) Tevin Coleman (Indiana) – Coleman had a “bad” game last week, “only” going for 120 yards and a TD. He also had a 60-yard TD called back on a penalty. This week North Texas comes to town, so Coleman should be a lock for 150 yards and 2 TDs. His price is high on all the sites, but he’s about a sure a thing has you’ll find this week.

10) Amri Cooper (Alabama) – Cooper has thrived under Lane Kiffin’s offense. Lane may be a really bad head coach, but he can run an offense and he knows to how to scheme to get the ball in the hands of his top playmakers. Cooper has shown he is the top WR this season, and this week is one of those games were Alabama will show Ole Miss where they stand in the SEC. Alabama is no longer a run-first ground and pound team.

11) Devin Funchess & Devin Gardner (Michigan)DISCLAIMER – I DO NOT RECOMMEND PLAYING THIS COMBO IN A CASH GAME. Michigan is in a must-win game for ole’ Brady Hoke. If he loses at Rutgers I think we can be assured he’ll be fired before getting back to Ann Arbor. Rutgers has one of the worst passing defenses in the nation, and if these two are ever going to have another big game it should be this week. I think Funchess is a safer play, since his salary is so low and he is good at football, whereas Gardner is not good at football even though his price is also very low.

12) Deshaun Watson & Mike Williams (Clemson) – Deshaun Watson had his coming out party last week vs. UNC, and I think that this is a very good spot for Clemson this week. NC State is coming off a huge high and a devastating game to FSU last week and I think they come in flat this week. FSU was the first good team NC State played and I don’t think they are very good. Mike Williams has emerged as the top WR on Clemson. As an added bonus, this is another game where FanDuel did not adjust the salaries. Both of these players are dirt cheap this week.

13) Josh Robinson (Mississippi State) – Dak Prescott and Kenny Hill are getting all the buzz in this game, but my favorite player to target in this game is Robinson. He has emerged as the top RB for MSU, and the combination of him gaining 197 yards vs. LSU and TAMU giving up 285 rushing yards last week has me loving this matchup.
