College Football Baker's Dozen - Week 8

Week 8 has arrived and we are now on the backend of the season. There are only a few more opportunities for us college football junkies to take advantage of.

Here are the 13 things I am looking forward to this week!

1. Nick Chubb (GEORGIA) – This is primarily a DK play — they only raised his price tag to $4600. The Bulldogs’ QB and WRs are garbage, so Chubb should get 30 carries and a few receptions out of the backfield. I don’t see much risk in this play at all.

2. Danny Anthrop (PURDUE) – He has had a very good rapport with the new QB Abbleby. Anthrop has scored a TD in half his games, and over the last four games has averaged nearly six receptions for 93 yards and scored two TDs. At only $5100 on FD and $4300 on DK, he is a nice value.

3. Devon Johnson (MAR) – I am leaving Johnson on this list until he fails me! After another three-TD game last week, the Herd get another cupcake in Florida International this week. I think Johnson is about the surest pick out there for 100 yards and a TD.

4. Baylor and West Virginia – This game should see a ton of points. I like both QBs, Shock Linwood, Kevin White, Corey Coleman and Antwan Goodley. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 80 points in this game. If you can find the right cheap players to stack, this game you could be in for a huge day.

5. William Stanback (UCF) – Tulane is giving up almost 200 yards on the ground, and Stanback should have one of his better games of the year. Other than a game against Bethune-Cookman, this will be the first really bad rushing defense UCF has played this year. At only $4800 on DK, Stanback could provide some great value.

6. Rashard Higgins (CSU) – Higgins has supplanted the Spruce Goose as the most reliable WR in daily CFB the last month. He’s averaged nine receptions, 150 yards and scored nine TDs in his last five games. Until he puts up a dud, it’s safe to plug and play him in all formats.

7. Hunter Sharp (UTST) – Sharp vs. Higgins! With these two playing in the same game, it could turn into a game of “try to beat what I just did”. As impressive as Higgins has been, Sharp has been just as good, posting averages of 10-151 and four total TDs. Both of the WRs in this game are very expensive, but if you can figure out how to get them both in your lineup they could provide some huge points.

8. Kevin Parks (VIRGINIA) – Parks was one of the players I was targeting early in the season, but he just wasn’t getting the carries. Last game versus Pitt he carried the ball 29 times for 169 yards. Duke does not have a strong run defense, and with Virginia coming off a bye I think Parks is in a really good spot this week.

9. Garrett Krstich & Darius Joseph (SMU)SMU finally got their offense going last week, and now get a home game against Cincinnati, who may have the worst defense in college football. Both are very cheap across the industry and could supply some very nice salary relief.

10. T.J. Yeldon (ALA) – If Yeldon is going to have a huge game this year, this could very well be the spot. I think Texas A&M is very overrated and will be in store for a good old-fashioned beatdown, as Alabama returns home after two very poor road games. A&M has a very bad defense and I don’t think they will have an answer for Yeldon. He also has a very low price tag on DK.

11. Javorius Allen (USC) – Allen makes a return to the list this week with Colorado coming to town. USC has decided to give Allen all the work he can handle this year. He has had only one poor game this year and he is one of the safest plays this week — he is expensive, but if you can find some other value plays Allen is a fine choice at RB.

12. UCLA – Fire up the opponent of California again! This week’s lucky team is UCLA. My favorite plays are Hundley at QB, Paul Perkins at RB, and Jordan Payton at WR. I think you could stack all three and they could all make value. Hundley could be in line to be the top-scoring QB of the weekend.

13. Royce Freeman (OREGON) – This is primarily a DK play because his price is only $4600. Freeman is now the #1 RB, averaging nearly 20 carries of the last month, and as the main RB in Oregon’s offense his ceiling is out of this world. His floor is probably 70 yards and a TD, so I like Freeman in both cash and GPPs on DK.
