Darddog's Attack Plan for College Football DFS: Week 5
A top-ranked college football DFS player, Micah Bedard (darddog) is here to walk you through the upcoming DraftKings slate. Micah will break down his favorite DFS picks at each position and will also lay out his strategy for how he is attacking the slate overall.
As I went over my attack plan from Week 4, I was surprised how many plays I got right compared to my ROI for the day. Unfortunately, I had 0 exposure to BC/Louisville and that game went crazy as Jack Plummer and Thomas Castellanos both outscored my guy Bo Nix. I can’t say it enough: CFB DFS is hard.
Week 5 does not have the marquee matchups that Week 4 had, but it’s still a solid slate of games. Draft Kings also did us a favor and only put 12 games on the main slate, which is right in the sweet spot.
Let’s get into my top plays for the week.
College Football DFS: Top DraftKings Picks for Week 5
Quarterback
Core Plays
Caleb Williams
$10,500
They could have priced Caleb Williams at $12,000 this week and I probably still would have called him the best play on the slate by far at QB. What else is there to say about last year’s Heisman Trophy winner? He’s thrown for 15 TDs with no interceptions through four games and now gets to face a Colorado defense that has given up 35+ points in three of its first four games. The only downside, if any, to Williams is that he doesn’t have a true No. 1 WR. Hell, he might not even have a true No. 2 WR. Last week against Arizona State the Trojans ran 62 plays. The highest amount of snaps by any WR was 36. All of the pass catchers are priced up and you will probably get them at low ownership. You don’t have to play a WR with Williams, but if you nail the right one it could pay off big in GPPs.
Luke Altmyer
$5,700

Yes, I know it feels gross to have an Illinois QB in my core plays. You know what else has been gross so far this season? The Purdue defense. Garrett Shrader ran all over Purdue for 208 yards and 4 TDs a couple weeks ago. Tanner Mordecai is no rushing savant and still put up 54 rushing yards and 2 TDs. Altmyer isn’t going to set the world on fire with his legs, but he does have enough mobility to do some damage. He’s also got a legit No. 1 option in Isaiah Williams that you can pair him with to form a pretty cheap stack that allows you to fit in Caleb Williams pretty easily. I’ll be well over the field on the Illinois signal caller.
