College Football News and Notes: Week 13
Player News: Week 13
Quarterbacks
Player: James Franklin/Maty Mauk, QB, Missouri
- News: Franklin is listed as the starter this week for the Tigers against the Rebels of Ole Miss.
- Impact: Considering how well Mauk has played while Franklin was hurt, there is no telling how much rope Franklin will have if he struggles. Consider this a situation to avoid this weekend.
Player: Travis Wilson, QB, Utah
- News: Wilson will miss the rest of the season, and his career may be over, after suffering a concussion which revealed a pre-existing neurological issue.
- Impact: Utah cannot catch a break with their quarterbacks. Obviously Wilson is off limits for fantasy owners. Adam Schulz will start for the Utes against Washington State.

Player: Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson
- News: Boyd will practice and is expected to play this weekend when the Tigers take on The Citadel despite injuring his collarbone last weekend.
- Impact: There are two problems with this dream matchup. If Boyd feels any complications, the Tigers will quickly pull the plug to rest him for the stretch run. Plus, if the Tigers ground game dominates as expected, his statistics may not warrant the salary. It may be best to avoid the star QB this weekend.
Running Backs
Player: Lache Seastrunk, RB, Baylor
- News: The injury that kept Seastrunk out of the Texas Tech game is a groin ailment, not as much of a leg injury.
- Impact: Despite being questionable to face Oklahoma State, expect Lache to suit up. This downgrades the value of Shock Linwood, although neither back would be recommended against a solid Cowboys defense.
Player: Glasco Martin, RB, Baylor
- News: The other top Bears running back Martin is questionable with a leg injury.
- Impact: As mentioned above, Shock Linwood may very well start, but given the enormous nature of the game, expect Seastrunk to try and gut it out.
Player: Jordan James/Paul Perkins/Myles Jack, RB, UCLA
- News: James, the Bruins leading tailback heading into the 2013 season, is set to return to the lineup against Arizona State after suffering from an ankle injury.
- Impact: Jack has been a TD maven the last two weeks and was going to provide solid value if James was out. No it is anyones guess whether James will be ready to carry the load or if this is going to be a platoon. Avoid at all costs.
Player: Damien Williams, RB, Oklahoma
- News: Williams has been suspended from the Sooners game this weekend against Kansas State.
- Impact: No reason has been given yet as to why he has been suspended. The Sooners do not posses another startable fantasy RB, so avoid their situation entirely.

Player: T.J. Yeldon, RB, Alabama
- News: Yeldon will be a game-time decision because of an ankle injury for the Crimson Tide’s game against Chattanooga.
- Impact: Woah. Not that this would be a big blow to the Crimson Tide against their opponent, but this opens the door to have Kenyan Drake explode on the scene and provide amazing value. Considering how this game should not be close, it would be surprising to see much, if any, of Yeldon this weekend.
Player: Mike Davis, RB, South Carolina
- News: Reports have surfaced to say that talented Gamecocks RB Mike Davis will sit out this weekends game against Coastal Carolina because of a shoulder injury.
- Impact: Reports are conflicting on this one, as some reporters state that is not true. Shon Carson would be the back to own and play this week if Davis misses the game, but until there is a clear report, this is a situation to avoid entirely.
Wide Receivers
Player: Damore’ea Stringfellow, WR, Washington
- News: Stringfellow has emerged as the clear #1 receiving option for the Huskies.
- Impact: Last week he exploded for 147 yards and a score against a tough UCLA defense. With a likely shootout against Oregon State in the cards, if you are looking for a sleeper WR3, this is your guy.
Player: Devin Street, WR, Pittsburgh
- News: Street is listed as questionable for this weekends game against Syracuse.
- Impact: Despite the juicy matchup, Street has been too inconsistent to trust this season. The Panthers offense has been putrid, so avoid Street.
Player: Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami
- News: Dorsett will miss another game for the Hurricanes as he continues to recover from a knee injury.
- Impact: No news here as the only potential fantasy option on the Canes offense is talented Dallas Crawford.
