Daily Fantasy CFB News & Notes: Week 8

Player News

QB’s

connor shaw cfb 550x330

Player: Caleb Rowe/C.J. Brown, QB, Maryland
News: Rowe has been listed as a co-starter along with Brown this week for the Terrapins game against Clemson, however it was announced Brown will miss the game with a trunk injury.
Impact: Avoid this situation at all costs, as Maryland just lost its top 2 weapons at wide receiver and the QB situation appears to be a mess.

Player: Travis Wilson, QB, Utah
News: Wilson suffered a thumb injury in the Utes loss to Arizona last week and is uncertain to take on USC.
Impact: Whether or not he takes the field, Wilson is a risky play this week given the strong USC defense. There are safer options out there, especially given the fact he is not 100%

Player: Kain Colter, QB, Northwestern
News: Colter will return to action this weekend after missing time with an ankle injury.
Impact: Despite his return, it is not wise to start him, as the Wildcats face a stingy Iowa defense. Go with a safer option.

Player: Patton Robinette, QB, Vanderbilt
News: Robinette will start for Vandy this week as their starting quarterback is battling a knee injury and will miss the Texas A&M game.
Impact: Considering how poorly the Aggies play defense, Robinette may make for a solid and cheap QB2 play this week if he is to start.

Player: Zach Kline/Jared Goff, QB, California
News: There is no official word yet as to who will be under center when Cal takes on Washington. Considering how well Kline played after replacing Goff last week, it is truly up in the air.
Impact: This is unfortunate as if either QB were to establish themselves, considering how often the team throws the ball, they could become a fantasy monster. Consider this another situation to avoid.

Player: Connor Shaw/Dylan Thompson, QB, South Carolina
News: Because of his ongoing knee injury, Shaw will be nothing more then the backup to Thompson when South Carolina faces Missouri this weekend.
Impact: Neither QB should be started against one of the most under-rated units in the country.

RB’s

Player: Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
News: Gurley was able to return to practice on Tuesday and has an extra week to heal up before the next Georgia game October 2nd.
Impact: This is big news for next week and if you used Gurley before, get set to re-insert him into your plans.

Player: Jordan James/Paul Perkins, RB, UCLA
News: It continues to appear likely that James will miss another game for the Bruins, this one coming against Oregon.
Impact: Regardless of the back, this is not an ideal matchup and the Bruins will likely be playing from behind and throwing the ball to catch up. Stay away from this situation this week.

Player: James Conner/Isaac Bennett, RB, Pittsburgh
News: With Conner dressed but not seeing the field against ODU, Bennett rushed for over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. This week, Conner is expected to play.
Impact: Either back has a juicy matchup next weekend against Navy. Whoever plays should be started with confidence. The issue is there is no word on who is starting, just that both are playing and will be active.

Player: Venric Mark, RB, Northwestern
News: Mark will miss this weeks game against Iowa as his ankle injury persists.
Impact: As reported last week, some at NU believe he has a broken bone in his foot. Problem is broken bones in feet don’t heal quickly. Consider Mark doubtful to make an impact at all in 2013.

Player: James Wilder, RB, Florida State
News: Wilder will miss this weeks game for the Seminoles with a concussion.
Impact: Tough break for those looking to use Wilder, but there are plenty of solid matchups out there. Use Tre Mason of Auburn against FAU.

Player: Duke Johnson/Dallas Crawford, RB, Miami
News: Despite Johnson insisting that he is OK after leaving last weeks game with a migraine, keep an eye out for reports as to how much he will play this week.
Impact: If he misses time Crawford becomes a RB1 this week. Keep an eye on this situation closely.

Player: De’Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon
News: Thomas expects to play this week and return from a 3 game absence.
Impact: He is automatically an RB1. Byron Marshall is still usable in some spots since they will run all day on UCLA. Thomas Tyner is not an option once Thomas returns to the field.

WR’s

marqise%20lee%20cfb%20550x330

Player: Marqise Lee, WR, USC

Latest Update: Lee will miss this weekends game for the Trojans against Utah as he still battles his knee injury.
With Nelson Agholor also questionable, the USC passing game is a mess. Avoid at all costs.

News: Lee tweaked his sprained knee in the USC loss to Notre Dame Saturday and did not play the second half.

Impact: Lee says he could have come back into the game but the coaching staff erred on the side of caution. Consider him questionable at best for this weeks game against Utah.

Player: Chris Conley, WR, Georgia
News: Just add Conley to the long list of injuries for Georgia in 2013. Conley is considered questionable to face Florida with a knee injury.
Impact: Conley hurt himself on the last play of the game and is the Dawgs leading receiver. He now can be crossed off playing lists next week as he surely wont be 100%.
Player: Deon Long, WR, Maryland
News: Long broke his right tibia and fibula during the Terrapins road loss to Wake Forest over the weekend and is out for the season.
Impact: Long is a solid playmaker and this is a big blow to the Maryland offense. C.J. Brown just lost one of his top weapons.

Player: Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland
News: Not only did Maryland lose their number two wideout Saturday, they also lost their best player, as Diggs broke his fibula, which will require surgery and is also out for the year.
Impact: Yikes what a disaster for the Terps. Just a few weeks after they were turning heads and undefeated, their entire receiving corps has been decimated.

TE

Player: Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss
News: Engram will miss the remainder of the season with what is being described as a bad high ankle sprain.
Impact: This is a huge blow for the Rebels. This once again shows how value tight ends like Jace Amaro and Eric Ebron are for offenses.
