Daily Joust Hosting March Madness Survivor Tournament
March Madness is almost upon us, and if you’re like me you’ve been waiting to see what the Daily Fantasy sites would unveil in honor of this awesome month in sports. It appears Daily Joust has struck first with their promotion for the NCAA Tournament by launching the $500 March Madness Survivor Tournament (MMST).
The tournament is going to be run in similar fashion to their Solo Survivor Tournaments except that instead of playing a Solo each day, the user plays a 50/50 contest. This means that, in the same fashion as the NCAA tournament, half the field will be eliminated each day (round) until there’s only one player left standing!
The first March Madness Survivor tournament (MMST 1) will begin with the Conference Tournaments on March 7. There is a $20 buy-in per contest, which covers your feeds for the entire series, and it is a single-entry event. Each Survivor Series will have a max of 32 entries, with 16 advancing from Round 1. Each round you advance you will win a prize from the $500 guaranteed prizepool with $100 and a seat in the $10k Super Joust going to the winner! Jousters, we are introducing an exciting new contest format to daily fantasy sports just in time for March Madness – March Madness Survivor tournaments. Survivor Contests have become one of the most exciting contests at Daily Joust – now we are extending the experience to College Basketball by creating a multi-day tournament for winners of the most consecutive 50/50 Contests as the field narrows. Jousters pay a single up-front entry fee and win prizes for each 50/50 Contest they win as part of the March Madness Survivor Tournament (MMST).
What is a 50/50 Contest ?
A 50/50 contest is a single contest where the top 50% of Jousters’ lineups in the contest all win a pre-determined prize. For example, if there are 32 Jouster lineups in the 50/50 contest, the top 16 will win; if there are 16 Jouster lineups, the top 8 will win. All lineups are scored using Daily Joust fantasy scoring and tie-breaking rules. See the Rules section at Daily Joust for more details.
How do Jousters Qualify to Enter an MMST ?
Any Jouster who has an account on Daily Joust can play. MMST 1 will start with the Conference Tournaments March 7, 2012, and will run through March 11. We will announce additional MMST’s through March to cover the NCAA College Basketball Tournament.
How Do Jousters Enter the MMST Tournament ?
Jousters need to be logged into the Daily Joust site to be able to enter MMST contests from the Open Contest page or URL links. There will be a designated MMST contest in CBB offered each day of the MMST:
Entering MMST 1 Day 1 will have a $20 entry fee. That will be the only entry fee charged for MMST 1. There will be a maximum of 32 entrants, and 16 winners (survivors) regardless of the number of entrants. Jousters are only permitted a single initial entry in an MMST tournament.
- The 16 MMST 1 Day 1 survivors win a $5 prize and the right to an entry in MMST 1 Day 2
- The 8 MMST 1 Day 2 survivors win a $15 prize and the right to an entry in MMST 1 Day 3
- The 4 MMST 1 Day 3 survivors win a $25 prize and the right to an entry in MMST 1 Day 4
- The 2 MMST 1 Day 4 survivors win a $50 prize and the right to an entry in MMST 1 Day 5
- The final MMST survivor wins a $100 prize, a seat at the $10k NBA Super Joust on April 18 and a shot at winning two seats to the NBA Finals.
Only those Jousters that have won the previous day’s MMST contest are eligible to play the next day/round.
How is the Winner Determined for an MMST ?
The winner of the final day’s MMST 50/50 contest is the winner of the MMST. That Jouster wins the MMST final day prize, gets an MMST winner badge, and a seat at the $10,000 NBA Super Joust tournament and a chance to win two seats to the NBA Finals. In the unlikely event of a tie (after application of normal Daily Joust tie breaking rules) for the win in all but the final round and the right to advance in the MMST, those that tie for the final win slot will split the proceeds for the win and those tied will advance to the next day/round, though the number of Jousters who advance from that subsequent round will not change. In the unlikely event of a tie (after application of normal Daily Joust tie breaking rules) for the win in the final round, the winner will be determined by the highest total number of points scored by that Jouster’s MMST lineups from the beginning of the tournament.
When is a Jouster Eliminated from an MMST ?
If a Jouster does not win the designated MMST 50/50 contests on a given day/round, they are no longer eligible to continue playing additional MMST 50/50 contests in that particular MMST and are considered eliminated from that particular MMST. If a Jouster fails to enter the designated MMST 50/50 Contest on a given day during the MMST, they will be considered eliminated from that particular MMST. It is the Jouster’s responsibility to enter teams in a timely fashion when they are eligible to do so, whether or not they receive any notification regarding eligibility from Daily Joust. Prize Pools

When Will MMSTs Run ?
The first MMST (MMST 1) starts March 7th, and runs through March 11. Any Jouster is eligible to enter. MMSTs will run thru March to include the NCAA Tournament, including MMST 2 starting March 15th. Daily Joust will announce when additional FSTs will be offered in CBB or other sports.
