Daily Joust Introduces NBA Solo Survivor Tournaments

It’s awesome to see the Daily Fantasy Sports industry continue to grow and innovate. Joust just unveiled a new game format this week, and it’s pretty sweet. It’s called the NBA Solo Survivor Tournament, and I haven’t heard of anything quite like this before. It’s a multi-day contest consisting of individual solo contests, a game-variety where you set a lineup vs. a set amount of points as opposed to an opposing lineup. Win a Solo contest by January 31st and you’re in the Survivor Tournament. Everyone who qualifies then enters an all-out survival battle until only one man is left standing.

Every day DJ will post an “SST” official contest, beat the score and you survive, score beats you and you’re eliminated. This will go on every day there are NBA SSTs offered until only one person is left standing. That winner gets $250 (at least), an entry to the NBA Super Joust for a shot to go to the NBA finals, and a custom SST Badge on Daily Joust. Pretty sweet, eh? You can play for as little as $5 a day, and they’re running more than 1 SST, so there’s not reason not to give this a shot, imo. Should be fun, and best of luck to all the Grinders who play!

DJ Introduces NBA Solo Survivor Tournaments

(Official Press Release from Daily Joust)

Solo Survivor Tournament ( SST )
Daily Joust is introducing an exciting new contest format to daily fantasy sports – NBA Solo Survivor tournaments. Solo Contests have become one of the most popular contests at Daily Joust – now we are upping the ante by creating a multi-day tournament for winners of the most consecutive Solo Contests. Jousters will still win normal prizes for each Solo contest they win as part of the Solo Survivor Tournament (SST).

What is a Solo Contest ?
A Solo contest is a single contest where the Jouster wins a pre-determined prize by reaching or exceeding a target number of fantasy points per Daily Joust scoring rules. There are no opponents in a Solo Contest. For example, a user can enter a $5 NBA Solo Contest with a $5 entry-fee and win $9 if their NBA line-up scores 225 or more fantasy points that day.

How do Jousters Qualify to Enter an SST ?
Any Jouster who wins a regular solo contest in ANY sport the previous 7 days prior to the start of the contest is eligible to enter the next Solo Survivor Tournament (SST) on the specified start date. SST 1 has a specified start date of Jan 31st. Each SST will have its own specified start date, typically two days after completion of the prior SST.

Designated SST solo contest wins that are part of an SST do not count towards eligibility for the next SST. Only regular Solo Contest wins will qualify a Jouster for the next SST.

How Do Jousters Enter the NBA SST Tournament ?
There will be three designated SST solo contests in NBA offered each day: $5 entry fee to win $9 prize $11 entry fee to win $20 prize $22 entry fee to win $40 prize

Jousters need to be logged into the Daily Joust site to be able to enter SST solo contests from the Open Contest page or URL links.

Eligible Jousters can enter one, two or all three of these designated SST solo contests in a given day. If the Jouster wins any of these SST solo contests in a day, he wins the Solo Contest prize and survives in the tournament and is eligible to compete for the SST prize the following day.

SST Solo Contests will be specially designated on the Open Contest page and only those Jousters eligible for entry will be considered for a valid entry.

How is the Winner Determined for an SST ?

Each SST continues until either:

a. Only one Jouster is still eligible to play in the current SST, and has won at least one SST solo contest each of the previous 4 days. In this case that Jouster wins the SST prize, gets an SST winner badge, and a seat at the $10,000 NBA Super Joust tournament.

b. No Jousters remain eligible to enter, but Jousters have previously won at least one SST solo contest in 4 previous days of the current SST. In this case the last remaining Jousters (those who participated in the final day before losing) equally split the SST prize and each get an SST winner badge. Only the Jouster with the highest score on the final day (using Daily Joust tie-breaker rules) gets an entry into the $10k Super Joust.

c. No Jousters remain eligible to enter, and no Jousters have won at least one SST solo contest each of the previous 4 days In this case the SST prize rolls over to the next SST. The prize pool for the next SST will be equal to the prior SST prize plus an additional $250. which will start two days later (e.g. if an SST contest ends with Tuesday’s solo contests, the next SST will start with Thursday’s solo contests), and include both the previous Prize Pool AND the $250 prize intended for the next SST.

When is a Jouster Eliminated from an SST ?
If a Jouster does not win any designated SST solo contests on a given day, they are no longer eligible to continue playing additional SST solo contests in that particular SST and are considered eliminated from that particular SST. If a Jouster fails to enter any designated SST Solo Contests on a given day during the SST, they will be considered eliminated from that particular SST. It is the Jouster’s responsibility to enter teams in a timely fashion when they are eligible to do so, whether or not they receive any notification regarding eligibility from Daily Joust. Please ensure that we have your proper email address and adjust your spam filters accordingly.

Prize Pools
The prize for each SST will start at $250 and can increase for following SSTs if the prize is not won. If there is no winner(s) for the first SST, then the prize pool for the second SST will be increased to $500. If there is no winner for the second SST, then the prize pool for the third SST will be increased to $750, etc etc. When a Jouster(s) has won an SST, the prize pool for the following SST will be reset to $250.

When there is a single winner of an SST, that winner will also be awarded a seat at the $10,000 NBA Super Joust – where $10K and two tickets to the NBA Finals are on the line ! If there are multiple winners of an SST, only the Jouster with the highest score (using Daily Joust tie-breaker rules) on the final day will be awarded an NBA Super Joust seat. Check blog.dailyjoust.com for more details about the $10,000 NBA Super Joust.

When Will SSTs Run ?
The first SST starts Jan 31st. Any Jouster who has won a Solo Contest during Jan 24 -30 is eligible to enter the first SST. SSTs will run thru February, but will not include the NBA All Star break or any days with fewer than 3 NBA games. The last SST in this contest will start no later than February 29th, 2012. If no one wins that SST, Daily Joust will continue to run for the prize pool at that time until the last SST is won. Daily Joust will announce when additional SSTs will be offered in NBA or other sports.

All Jousters can follow the action with the lineups and live scoring on special SST Contest web pages.
