Cliff Lee
- Lefty shmefty. Joey Votto isn’t fazed by Lee being a southpaw posting a .385 AVG and 1077, albeit in just 13 PA.
- Jay Bruce, however, does struggle a bit with Lee hitting just .188 with a 610 OPS in 17 PA.
Votto, Bruce, Brandon Phillips, and Cesar Izturis all have a homer against Lee.
- Phillips has a .308 AVG and 835 OPS in 27 PA.
Bronson Arroyo
- Arroyo hasn’t had a lot of recent success against the Phils, but last year he threw eight strong (2 ER) allowing three hits and striking out four in a single outing.
- Jimmy Rollins has a .286 AVG and 937 OPS in 22 PA with 2 HR and 5 RBIs against Arroyo.
- Humberto Quintero (.100 AVG, 250 OPS) and Chase Utley (.316 AVG, 824 OPS) each have 20 PA against Arroyo, too, obviously with varying degrees of success.
- Both Ryan Howard (.313 AVG, 978 OPS) and Michael Young (.313 AVG, 790 OPS) each have 17 PA against Arroyo.
- Utley, Howard, and Domonic Brown each have a homer.
Lance Lynn
- Lynn has faced 13 Pirates, but only totaled 81 PA of .264 AVG and 735 OPS.
- Pedro Alvarez has the lone homer in his 11 PA.
James McDonald

- McDonald has handled the Cards throughout his career with a 2.27 ERA in 39.7 IP including a 2.15 mark in five starts over the last two seasons.
- Current Cards have a .196 AVG and 593 OPS against him in 102 PA with Carlos Beltran (.188, 503 in 19 PA) and Matt Holliday (.133, 454 in 16 PA) struggling the most. Allen Craig is 4-for-13 (.308) with a bomb and two doubles.
Gavin Floyd
- Four current Blue Jays have logged 15+ PA against Floyd and four of them have a .333 AVG or better: Maicer Izturis (.333 AVG, 818 OPS in 25 PA), Adam Lind (.375, 1099 in 17), and Melky Cabrera (.333, 975 in 16).
- Lind and Cabrera have the only Blue Jay homers off of Floyd.
Mark Buehrle
- Unsurprisingly, Buehrle – a 12 year White Sock – has little experience against current members of the team having faced only Alex Rios. Rios has a .130 AVG and 428 OPS with a homer in 24 PA.
Jordan Zimmermann

- Zimm probably doesn’t even wish injury on a player because that would be messed up, but he wants Giancarlo Stanton to take his time with a shoulder contusion that has sidelined him for a few days as Stanton is 3-for-14 against him with all three hits leaving the yard.
- Juan Pierre has logged the most work against Zimmermann with a .188 AVG and 503 OPS in 19 PA.
Wade LeBlanc
- No National has logged more than 9 PA against LeBlanc with 14 guys totaling just 49 PA (.326 AVG and 802 OPS).
- Since last year, the Nats offense has a 100 wRC+ against lefties, seventh-best in baseball.
Joe Blanton
- Blanton has been knocked around the yard and out of it in his first two outings with a 15.3 H/9 and 3.6 HR/9 so even though it’s a weak Twins lineup in a potentially snowy Target Field, I’d sit this one out no matter what.
- The big Twins bats have mixed success against Blanton: Justin Morneau has a .276 AVG and 714 OPS in 30 PA, Joe Mauer is hitting .318 with a 739 OPS in 24 PA, and Josh Willingham has struggled with a .125 AVG and 301 OPS in 17 PA.
Mike Pelfrey
- Pelfrey has also been roughed up quite a bit posting a 7.36 ERA despite not yet giving up a home run this season. Teams have a 16.0 H/9 against the righty in 7.3 IP.
Dillon Gee
- Gee made it out of Coors Field alive in his one outing allowing three runs in seven innings, but I still wouldn’t mess with him especially as he has been off to start 2013 struggling with command in a decent outing against San Diego before getting pummeled by Philly.
Juan Nicasio
- Nicasio hasn’t faced the Mets in limited MLB time.
Erik Bedard
- It speaks the immense turnover and youth of the Oakland ballclub that Bedard spent three years in the division and nine in their league yet only has 25 PA against current A’s and 16 of those are locked up in Coco Crisp, who may not even play as he nurses a sore groin. For the record, Crisp is 1-for-15 (.067 AVG) against him.
- Like most SPs, Bedard fares extremely well in the Oakland Coliseum.
Tommy Milone
- Milone isn’t known as a strikeout pitcher, but he has a pair of 10-strikeout games and the Astros are prime opportunity for his third.
- He has just 14 PA against current Astros.
