DB's CFB Bowl Picks Dec 27 & 28th

Bowl season is finally upon us and luckily there hasn’t been too much drama with injuries and suspensions up to this point. There are a variety of different game sets across the daily fantasy landscape over the next few weeks, but today I am going to concentrate on the games for Friday and Saturday.

Quarterbacks

The Stud

C.J. Brown – Tough not to look at Brown in this matchup against Marshall. He has been on fire the 2nd half of the season and with his running ability he has a chance to have a piece of about 80% of Maryland’s offensive touchdowns. Marshall plays in a weak conference, so I think their defense is not nearly as good as their ranking. Cato and the Thundering Herd offense can put points up in a hurry though, so Brown should have to be on his “A” game to keep pace.

Middle Tier

Tommy Rees – Rutgers secondary has been horrendous for a while now and they currently rank 123rd against the pass in the FBS. Rees should have no problem carving them up for over 300 yards and a couple of scores. The fact that the Irish rushing game is non existent doesn’t hurt his cause either.

The Sleeper

Shane Morris – Devin Gardner is OUT for the Wolverines, so Shane Morris will get a chance to run the show this weekend. I don’t know much about him except that 1) He’s lefty and 2) He’s cheap. At least on DraftKings where he is minimum salary. Kansas State is neither the best nor worst matchup for him, so if you want to take a shot on a cheap QB he may be your guy.

Running Backs

The Stud

Bishop Sankey – This guy has been written up this season more than anyone else and its for good reason. He is a stud and produces at a high level almost every game. I don’t see that changing up much here against BYU who has given up over 200 yards rushing to Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Boise State and Wisconsin this year. He is pricey but a sure thing.

Middle Tier

Davis Cobb – Minnesota found themselves a star in the making in Cobb. He finished 6th in the Big Ten in rushing and had a terrific final month and a half to the year. The Gophers don’t have much going in the passing game so expect a steady dose of Cobb. Considering he went for over 100 vs. the stingy Michigan State defense, I expect an even bigger day against the Orange.

The Sleeper

Jerome Smith – He is not flashy, but he leads the Cuse in touchdowns by a wide margin. Smith is priced down a good bit across the industry and certainly won’t help you much in PPR formats with only 7 receptions on the season. His value is in scoring a touchdown and I think he can get in for one vs. the Gophers.

Wide Receivers

The Stud

T.J. Jones – Like I mentioned before, Rutgers can’t guard anyone. I will put his chances of scoring a TD at about 90% this weekend and even though the price is high, no other wideout comes with so little risk in this game set.

Middle Tier

Cody Hoffman – He certainly didn’t play at the level many of us expected and I think that was due to running quarterback Hill taking over the position. Despite the mediocre regular season, I could see him having a good game in his final time on the field vs. Washington.

The Sleeper

Quron Pratt – Rutgers leading receiver Caroo is doubtful to suit up for this game and Pratt hasn’t been terrible in his absence to this point. The reception numbers are not huge, but the yard per catch are pretty solid. I have a feeling the Scarlet Knights will be playing from behind in this one, so look for them to take a few shots with “Q” downfield. He hits on one and he will pay off his number.
