DB's Daily Fantasy College Football Picks: Week 14

Rivalry Saturday has arrived in College Football and we have the second $50,000 Big Score tournament of the year on DraftStreet coming up Saturday. We nailed some solid picks for the first Big Score (Garrett Gilbert & Andre Williams come to mind), so hopefully we can nail a few more off the board picks so you can cash a few benjamins this weekend.
For more picks be sure to watch the replay of College Foobtall After Dark with headChopper and myself. Also tune into GrindersLive Saturday morning at 10:30 with Emac & STLCards for last second injury news and advice.
Quarterbacks
Braxton Miller (Ohio State) – Few players are hotter in College Football than Miller right now and this is a huge game for Ohio State. Not only is it one of the biggest rivalry games in the country as they head up to Ann Arbor, but the Buckeyes need to make a statement for them to have any shot to jump into the top 2 of the BCS. The price tag on Miller is high this week, but his production 3 of the past 4 weeks would make value at his 18.6K price tag on DS. If you can find the value elsewhere, I would fit him in because another 40 burger looks likely for Miller.
Marquise Williams (North Carolina) – Duke v. UNC is normally something we get excited for on the hardwood, but this game is huge in determining who will make it to the ACC Championship. Williams has ignited the North Carolina offense after Renner went down and I think this game could be back and forth. Williams is coming off a 5 TD game and surprisingly none of them came on the ground. I think he looks like a lock for 4 total TD’s on Saturday.
Adam Schultz (Utah) – Here is an off the board pick for you this weekend. The price tag doesn’t present tremendous value (13.7K), but the Utah gunslinger is highly unknown and won’t likely be owned by many. The Utes take on a terrible team in Colorado who’s defense ranks 104th vs. the run and 98th vs. the pass. He is coming off a monster week vs. Washington State and it could be even bigger with his game coming at home to an even more woeful defensive club.
Other Options: C.J. Brown (Maryland), Logan Thomas (Virginia Tech), Paul Millard (WVU)
Running Backs
Andre Williams (Boston College) – No player has put up more gaudy numbers than Williams has over the past three weeks as he has rushed for 295,339, & 263 in each contest. I doubt those numbers are sustainable, but BC was not even looking to throw last game and I doubt they do much different against Syracuse. Now the Orange rush defense is ranked 30th so I am not sure he is an “across the board play” for that reason, but I fully expect him to put up huge numbers once again.
Javorius Allen (USC) – USC seems to have found their go to guy in the running game as “Buck” has busted onto the scene with some monster performances for the Trojans. UCLA doesn’t sport a great rush defense allowing over 200 yards rushing to Oregon, Arizona, & Arizona State (allowed 192 to Stanford), so I don’t see them slowing down the Southern California running game. Fair warning: Silas Redd looks like he may play this week, so he will take a few carries from Allen, but I think it’s doubtful Orgeron doesn’t feed the hot hand.
Todd Gurley (Georgia) – With Aaron Murray sidelined with an injury you have to expect Georgia will lean heavily on Gurley this Saturday. His recent production has been fantastic, but surprisingly a lot of that work has come in the pass game as he has caught 15 passes for 160 yards the past two weeks. Doubting we see that trend continue, instead I think they pound it against a surprisingly highly ranked rush defense of Georgia Tech.
Other Options: Stephen Houston (Indiana), Kelvin York (Utah), Treyvon Green (Northwestern)
Wide Receivers
Jordan Matthews (Vanderbilt) – After a couple of slow weeks, Matthews is back rolling for Vandy. He has hit double digit receptions the past two games which is huge on full point PPR sites. Surprisingly Matthews has not found the endzone in the past 5 weeks, but as I predicted with Jamison Crowder last week, he is overdue for scores so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get two this weekend vs. that same Wake defense that allowed Crowder to go nuts.
Antwan Goodley (Baylor) – Baylor has a sneaky tough game vs. TCU this week as the Horned Frogs have one of the better defensive units in college football. Baylor should come in hungry after the tough loss to Oklahoma State last week and Goodley has been super consistent this season with 100 yard games in 7 of 10 contests. The price tag is still fair, so I’m comfortable rolling him out again.
Dorial Green-Beckham (Missouri) – This kid is super talented and he has put it on display a couple of times this season. The lack of consistency will probably put me off him in a good number of cash games, but the tournament upside is enormous for the matchup against Texas A&M and the below average price tag.
Other Options: Rashad Greene (FSU), Allen Robinson (PSU), TJ Jones (Notre Dame)
Tight Ends
Chris Coyle (Arizona State) – I seem to pick him every week and usually am disappointed. This week ASU may need to throw a bit more with Grice status in question so hopefully some of those looks go to Coyle who still has a lot of talent for a pretty cheap price tage.
Dan Vitale (Northwestern) – Last week Vitale finally returned to level we saw earlier this year and I think he could put together another solid week. Colter looks doubtful to play so Siemian should be slinging it around a good bit vs. a bad Illinois defense and hopefully a few of those find Vitale.
Other Options: E.J. Bibbs (ISU), Devin Funchess (Michigan)
