DOCOFS: Final Standings and Breakdown

The DOCOFS has ended and it is safe to say that it was a MASSIVE success. Over $40,000 in guaranteed prizes within an eight event tournament turned into $50,000 in guaranteed prizes due to massive demand. This six-day whirlwind tour challenged players to battle through various tournament styles to earn points in the standings as well as fight for a free spot in the Main Event. In that Main Event, qualifiers and those who bought in fought for the $25,000 guaranteed prize pool. In six days, daily fantasy legends were made. Six days, seven events, and one DOCOFS Champion. Jardine91 was talented enough to take down his competition and earn the #1 crown, but there were plenty of other guys who cemented their legacy in the DFS world this week. Let’s break down the week, day by day.
Event One: DOCOFS Warmup
There is no better way to kick off an event this big than to put together a $10,000 warm-up event. DraftDay lured players from across the DFS world to the competition by offering a massive prize pool for their inaugural event. The event was obviously a huge success, highlighted by a victory(and guaranteed seat at the main event) for $L:I:QUI:I:D$. He put up an impressive score of 73 points to edge out many competitors in a standard salary-cap game. Ajpy26 finished just 1.5 points behind, and A25smith was just 3 points off the first place mark. Rounding out the top 5 were Jmp5029 and Anything who scored 69 and 64.5 respectively.
| Event 1 Rank | Name | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $L:I:QUI:I:D$ | 73 |
| 2 | Ajpy26 | 71.5 |
| 3 | a25smith | 70 |
| 4 | jmp5029 | 69 |
| 5 | anything | 64.5 |
Event 2: AL-Only
Event 2 marked the beginning of the series of challenges for DFS players; obstacles that one may not see on a day-to-day basis. The AL-Only competition added a seasonal league spin to our daily game. With a smaller player pool, DFS studs had to maneuver their lineups carefully. At the end of the day, Therayray was able to take home first place with 56.25 points behind a 3-run homer from Carlos Pena. The top-5 players for the AL-only tourney are listed below.
| Event 2 Rank | Name | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | therayray | 56.25 |
| 2 | tyson219 | 53.75 |
| 3 | lordsepic | 52.75 |
| 4 | teeej | 51.5 |
| 5 | waiverwire | 51 |
Event Three: NL-Only
The NL-Only tournament was the first top five finish for eventual DOCOFS Champion Jardine91. He welcomed himself to the big stage by squeaking out a victory in Event Three and choosing the best NL players for that day. His score of 69.25 was just enough to surpass SportsDD, who finished in second with a score of 69. Four total points separated first from fifth in this tournament, so the 12.5 points Jardine91 received from Brandon Phillips were huge. He also struck gold with R.A. Dickey, who hung over 13 points up while tossing a gem.
| Event 3 Rank | Name | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jardine91 | 69.25 |
| 2 | SportsDD | 69 |
| 3 | waiverwire | 68 |
| 4 | runitup | 67.75 |
| 5 | PrimeTime420 | 65.25 |
Event Four: Hit It and Split It (45 Point Goal)
The final event of the second day of action was the hit it or split it game. An interesting set-up to a game that DraftDay offers daily(The Mendoza Line). The goal is to hit a score of 45 points and split the pot equally among anyone who is able to score 45 or higher. Interestingly enough, Jardine91 was able to win this event with a lower score than he put together for his NL-Only league. I guess the big points were in the NL that night, as the winning score for AL-Only was 56 and NL-Only was 69. The full list of players who cashed in the “Hit it or Split it” tournament is below.

Event Six: 90K Cap
The 90K Cap, a daily fantasy classic. Depending on the site, the cap level for more challenging game varies but it stands at 90K on DD. These games tend to be a bit more low scoring than others, and a lot more difficult. The 90K Cap forces you to go from taking three to four star hitters to one or two. At the end of Event Six, FatalError had proven himself king of the 90K Cap with an impressive 61 point score. FatalError also managed to finish 3rd in that event with another entry that scored 58.75 points. Overall he took home a smooth 1.1K for the day and mastered the 90K Event.

Event Seven: Double Up
Anyone who played daily baseball last Thursday remembers the gem that Dan Haren threw. If you didn’t have him and his 20.25 points on DD, you were likely out of the running. Well Dan Haren combined with Yadier Molina and Melky Cabrera pushed Smdbishes to an incredible 84.75 fantasy points. It was supposed to be a slow night with less games, yet turned out to be one of the highest scoring nights of the season. This was the final event before the main event and our champ Jardine91 again took third place. At this point he held a comfortable lead atop the championship race with about 2K in winnings.

The Main Event
Under the bright lights, the DFS world awaited a victor with bated breath. Which daily fantasy player would be able to take home the $200 buy-in Main Event crown? Well our POTS Jardine91 put up a good fight but ended up in second place. The Main Event champion was Baseballs who had only four total cashes throughout the DOCOFS but used a Main Event win to bring home a whopping 5 grand. Behind Mark Teixeira and Jeff Francouer, Baseballs was able to catapult the remainder of the feild. Congrats to Baseballs on this incredible win. Another seat from a qualifier finished in the top three, and that was Mikey41414 who put up 62.25 points and ended up just three points off first place.

Final Player Of The Series Rankings
As we have alluded to all along, Jardine91 was the top player for the DOCOFS. He tallied 315 total points in 9 cashes and won a shade under $6K. He out ran the competition by about 85 points and was by far the best player of the past week. For his success, Jardine91 has won the opportunity to play Sirius-FM host Kay Adams in a heads-up game for a smooth G Tuesday night.
But there were plenty of other legends born during this epic DD event. Runitup took second place with over 3K in winnings and 231.25 total points. He also led in cashes with 18.
