DP World Tour DFS Core Plays: Horizon Irish Open
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite DP World Tour DFS picks at various salary ranges for this week’s tournament. Who should you be building around? Find out below.
DraftKings posted big tournaments for the Omega European Masters last week and they are running it back for the Horizon Irish Open. This is one of the best fields the DP World Tour has had all year, so we should have a fun week ahead. Other than Richie Ramsey, last week’s picks performed admirably. I was personally rooting for Alexander Bjork to get the job done on Sunday, but it was Ludvig Aberg that completed the incredible back nine comeback to beat Matthew Fitzpatrick.
This week we head to Ireland for the Horizon Irish Open. The event likes to rotate venues and this week we have the Palmer Club at the K Club. This course has hosted quite a few professional events over the years, but hasn’t hosted the Irish Open since 2016. Keep that in mind when looking at event history, as none of the events in the last six years have been played at this particular course. I will take a glance at Irish Open event history, but won’t be factoring it in nearly as much as I typically do with course history.
This course is a Par 72 that measures 7,350 yards. It is a much different course than the one we saw last week in Switzerland. That course was a short, Par 70 that placed a big emphasis on accuracy. This week’s venue is a long Par 72 that places more of an emphasis on all-around play. In 2016, Rory McIlroy was the only golfer in the field that finished double-digit under par. With water in play on most of the holes, a good driving week will go a long way.
