DRAFT Introduces Player Swap for NBA
Update March 9, 2017: DRAFT has announced that starting today, player swap can now be done up until a player’s game begins. If you draft a player who at the time of drafting is expected to play, and that player is later marked doubtful or out, you will be able to swap that player up until their specific game starts. Previously, player swap was only valid until first tip-off of the slate. Please keep in mind swap is only for the NBA product and does not include the DREAM TEAM contests. This updated announcement can be found on the forums here.
After listening to user feedback, DRAFT is introducing player swap for its NBA product.
DRAFT is a Daily Fantasy Sports website that allows users to build teams through live snake drafts with no salary cap. Drafts can take place hours before tip-off but once drafts are complete, no changes to your roster can be made. One common complaint under this format was that if a player gets scratched after the draft, it leaves the user who drafted that player at an unfair disadvantage. Users felt this hurt their experience on DRAFT as they had to take a zero even before games started.
DRAFT is now addressing this through player swap. Under this new player swap feature, if one of your players is active at the time of drafting them and for whatever reason becomes inactive before first tip-off of the slate, you will have the ability to swap them out for any undrafted player of that position. Swap is designed to protect users from unexpected changes in player status such as a player not playing due to coach’s decision or an undisclosed injury. DRAFT will also alert you through push notifications if one of your players becomes inactive over the course of the day, so you don’t have to monitor your phone or computer all day.
In order for a player to become swap eligible, they must have had an active status at the time you drafted them which then changed to an inactive status. Here are two examples to help illustrate the new feature:
Example 1: You draft LeBron James when he is questionable. His status is changed to out. He can be swapped.
Example 2: You draft LeBron James when he is doubtful. His status is changed to out. He cannot be swapped.
DRAFT will use the most advanced injury news feed to determine player status. When you have a swap eligible player, you’ll be notified via push notification. Click “swap” on the completed screen next to that player and you will be able to select from all undrafted players. For round drafts, players drafted in previous rounds are considered drafted. No players can be swapped after the first tip-off of the slate, and all swaps are final.
