Fort Worth Invitational

Golfers I Am Overweight On

Jordan Spieth – He remains my pick if you draw the top selection on DRAFT this week. Spieth was a bit of a disappointment last week in Dallas, but he rebounded nicely after a poor first round and almost finished inside the top 20. He made TWENTY birdies last week despite not making a SINGLE PUTT from outside of 15 feet. That’s remarkable. He’s dialed in on approach and ranks seventh in strokes gained in that category this season, and this is a course that caters to his game perfectly. His remarkable course history shows it, too, with finishes inside the top 15 in each of the last five years, including a win and two runner-ups in the last three editions.

Matt Kuchar – If you draw a pick toward the end of the first round in larger field games, Kuchar is a fine selection. Kuchar was one of the only golfers who really didn’t care for Trinity Forest last week, and you could tell as much in his comments after his rounds. He also mentions that he regrets being outspoken about it, and the whole thing is surprising coming from a steady player like Kuchar. With the missed cut out of the way, he’s probably ready to rip off another 15 or 20 consecutive made cuts now. He should be rested and ready to rock at an event where he has finished inside the top 12 in three of his last four visits (12th last year, 6th in 2016, and 2nd in 2013).
