DraftDay Unveils First Major Site Update
DraftDay recently released a significant update to their website. While many areas of their site were upgraded, the most significant improvements were in the area of ‘in-game user experience.’
The excitement of Daily Fantasy Sports is all about sweating your team while your players are on the field. Following all the action can be overwhelming so the team at DraftDay created a unique set of indicators to help decipher all the action. When on their stat-tracking page, a player’s score will now blink when it changes – green for an increase in points and red for a decrease in points. This feature gives players an easy way to track their progress during game time.

DraftDay is already known for their active chat and community, but the addition of their Fightin’ Words takes user-interaction to a new level in Daily Fantasy Sports. Found on the stat-tracking page, the Fightin’ Words is a dedicated wall that allows all participants to banter, brag, or trash talk their opponents. Much like a Facebook wall, the Fightin’ Words allows you to leave a message for an opponent in your game, even when they aren’t online. It certainly brings smack talk up a notch, and is a nice innovation on the existing chat features; which has been in high-demand by the Grinders community lately.
Stat geeks and casual players will find great use in this next update. The team at DD implemented a whole new batch of slick mouse-overs, ideal for both the grinders who crave more data and the new user who may not know how to follow their games. Included in these mouse-overs are:
- A mouse-over that displays an NBA team’s Points Per Game, Rebounds Per Game, Assists Per Game, and Points Against on the Drafting screen. This information will be helpful making new daily fantasy players feel comfortable competing against others who may be more experienced. This will make it easier for Grinders to spot good matchups and sneaky plays.

- A mouse-over that provides a quick-view of your team’s performance on your My Games screen. Rather than visit a page full of stats, a user can quickly hover his mouse over his score to see how his team is doing. This feature also seems tailor-made for the Grinders. It provides a slick way to keep inventory on each team on gameday.

- A mouse-over that displays a player’s salary and his draft frequency. Found on the stat-tracking page, this mouse-over shows both the price that a player cost as well as how often he was drafted on other teams in that particular game. With a simple mouse-over, you can see how popular LeBron James was among your opponents or identify which NBA stars underperformed for their price.

Finally, the crew at DraftDay raised the ante on game customization for Daily Fantasy Players. In addition to the ability to change the starting salary cap for private games, DD has become the first in the industry to allow users the ability to manually select which games (and player pool) to include. So if users want to make a private game excluding the Thunder vs Wizards game last night, they now have that ability.
In what’s likely to be the first of several major updates in the year, DraftDay has kicked of 2012 with a bang and continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation in the Daily Fantasy Industry.
