Now let’s get to our NASCAR DFS Preview for the GEICO 500.
DraftKings NASCAR DFS Preview for the GEICO 500
Tip #1 – Leave salary on the table for tournaments. You can leave a lot of salary on the table in NASCAR to differentiate your lineup. There’s a ton of variance in NASCAR, and if you want to win big you need to try to differentiate your lineup from the rest. With Talladega being a wider track, a wider range of starting positions have a legitimate opportunity to make their way to the front. There wasn’t any qualifying this week, so the field is very strong at the top, giving us room to get creative.
Tournament Target – Corey LaJoi (Starting 25th/$6,500 on DK/$4,000 on FD) makes for an interesting tournament target, considering McDowell, Newman, Almirola, and Preece are likely to be popular plays in this price range. Ultimately, we’re hoping to get low ownership with LaJoi and a high ceiling. LaJoi has been consistent at both Daytona and Talledega, finishing 8th, 7th, 6th, 11th, and 18th over the last year.

Tip #2 – Floor is king in cash games. When it comes to cash games, don’t try to get as risky. Find dependable drivers and starting positions and hope for the best.
Cash Game Target – One potential cash game target is Brendan Gaughan. Gaughan starting 39th and is priced at $7,600 on DK and $5,000 on FanDuel. You don’t see Gaughan often because he only races four times a year. In his six career starts at Talledega, Gaughan has finished at least 27th or better.
