DraftKings NFL Showdown - King of the Gridiron
Last week, DraftKings introduced their King of the Gridiron contest. This was an invite-only contest with 50 players buying-in directly for $2,000.
The premise? Play six separate Showdown slate from September 26th through MNF on October 14th. For each different showdown slate, the 50 competitors will earn points based on their finishing position. For instance, 1st place is worth 50 points, 2nd is 49 points, 3rd is 48 points, etc. At the conclusion of the six-game competition, the player with the most combined points (ie: placement points, not fantasy points) will be crowned the champion.
Final placement payouts are as follows:
1st: $25,000.00
2nd: $15,000.00
3rd: $10,000.00
4th: $6,000.00
5th: $4,000.00
6th: $4,000.00
7th: $3,000.00
8th: $3,000.00
DraftKings will also be paying out $2,500 to first place, $1,500 to 2nd place and $1,000 to 3rd place in each individual Showdown slate.
As you’d expect, this field is stacked with some of the biggest names in DFS. We’ve now reached the half-way point of the contest and here’s where things stand:
Good luck to all of the participants. This is an interesting new contest format and it’ll be very interesting to see what kind of strategies Pigskinablanket deploys in order to hang onto the early lead.
