DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS Player Salary Analysis: Memorial Tournament
Guess who’s back?
Back again.
Tiger’s back.
Tell a friend.
I’m as big of a Tiger Woods fan as you are going to find, but the whole golfing world is buzzing with the return of the greatest golfer of all time. DFS contests around the industry have been filling with ease the last few weeks and we can expect more of the same this week. This is a tremendous golf course and according to the Official World Golf Rankings, this is the strongest field ever in a PGA Tour event (including the majors). As far as offerings go, DraftKings has another $20 Millionaire Maker, $100,000 to first in the $5 Drive the Green, and even a $200 single-entry GPP with $100,000 to first. FanDuel has $100,000 to first up for grabs in the $9.99 Mega Eagle and the $555 Monster.

I hope everyone enjoyed Muirfield Village last week because for the first time ever, we get to see the same course in back-to-back weeks. There are certainly some differences this time around and we’ll start with the field size. There were 157 golfers in the field last week and that number is cut down to 133 golfers this week. Course officials plan to grow out the rough (expected to be around four and a half inches) and speed up the greens (expected to be around 14 on the stimpmeter). This combination should make greens tougher to hit, which will place a larger emphasis on scrambling. We’ve seen bad putters win here in the past, so I’m really looking to target the best tee to green golfers and I’ll hope I can catch the guy that finds a hot putter.
We not only have the best tools in the industry, but have an incredibly talented team of PGA experts. Here is a rundown of what premium members will have access to for the Memorial Tournament:

DraftKings and FanDuel Workday Charity Open Salary Analysis Table
In the table below, you will find Vegas odds, salaries, percentage salary cap columns, and odds percentage columns. The “DK & FD Cap %” columns show how much of the respective salary on each site each golfer costs. The “DK – FD %” column shows how much cheaper a golfer is on DraftKings compared to FanDuel. The “DK & FD Odds” columns take each golfer’s salary rank and compare it to their odds rank. The higher the percentage, the more value they provide on that specific site (relative to their outright odds).

DraftKings + FanDuel DFS Salary Analysis for the Memorial Tournament
Hideki Matsuyama
DraftKings: $9,400 / FanDuel: $10,900
Matsuyama is one of my favorite plays of the week and it helps that he’s affordable on both FanDuel and DraftKings. With such a stacked field, I want to build lineups where I feel good about all six of my golfers. If you start your build with Hideki instead of Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, or Rory McIlroy, the bottom of your lineup will thank you. In his last two events, he has gained 7.8 and 8.3 strokes ball striking, so he’s clearly dialed in off the tee and on approach. His around the green game has been elite over the last six months, so it really all comes down to his putter. While it hasn’t been great recently, bentgrass is his preferred putting surface and he’s won at Muirfield Village in the past, so we know he can get the job done.
Jim Furyk
DraftKings: $6,500 / FanDuel: $7,800
Furyk was one of my favorite value plays last week and it was quite the roller coaster. He couldn’t chip anything close on Thursday and ended the day at three over par. On Friday, he came out firing at pins and put together a round of four under par. At the time, he was basically a lock to make the cut with extreme wind expected in the next few hours. Unfortunately, it started to rain and the tour was forced to halt play. When the afternoon wave finally got on the course, the wind died down and they got to feast on a soft course. Basically, Furyk should have made the cut. Additionally, his ball striking was solid for the week overall. He’s a green in regulation specialist and he has played well at this course for many years. I like hopping back on at this cheap price point.
Jon Rahm
DraftKings: $9,300
Rahm is appropriately priced on FanDuel, but feels far too cheap on DraftKings. As mentioned above, if you start your lineups with Matsuyama or Rahm (or both), it really helps when you are filling out the rest of your squad. Rahm hasn’t been great since the restart, but he’s making cuts and his ball striking looks solid enough. Perhaps he found something on Sunday last week, as he shot eight under par at Muirfield Village. We know he’s capable of winning every time he tees it up and it’s been far too long since he’s been in contention. He should feel good about his chances this week.
Sungjae Im
FanDuel: $9,500
I’m not looking to target Im on DraftKings this week, but his price of $9,500 on FanDuel is awfully tempting. There isn’t a single statistic that I can point to that suggests an immediate turn around, but he’s one of the hardest working golfers on the PGA Tour. Golf is his one true love and he is constantly on the range grinding. I expect him to figure it out sooner rather than later. And for what it’s worth, he’s still made his last three cuts. If he can sure up the iron game a bit, he will easily pay off this discounted price point on FanDuel.
