DraftStreet NBA: Monday Games

DraftStreet – Monday Games

rashard lewis

This week I’m going to put in a lot of time towards the newcomer to the NBA scene: DraftStreet. DraftStreet is one of the newest sites, and they have a lot to offer. They just began offering NBA about 10 days ago, and they utilize a very unique scoring system that no other sites use. The difference between most sites is that: Rebounds are 1.25, Assists are 1.5 and Missed FG and FTs are -0.5. I think there are Pros and Cons to this system, but I’m holding final judgment until this week is over and I’ve thoroughly tested it in action. The scoring system puts more emphasis on Rebounds and Assists, and less emphasis on Points than the traditional Daily Fantasy Scoring System. In general you want to target Point Guards more in your guard spots for their assists, and big men that put up a lot of rebounds and points (they usually have high FG%s).

Monday night gives us 6 games this week. Atlanta vs. Orlando is not a game made for Fantasy Offense with teams allowing 86 and 96 PPG respectively. On the other hand Phoenix could be this year’s Golden State allowing 109 PPG so far. Going up against Memphis who’s allowing 107 PPG, you can expect a better offensive showing in this matchup.

DraftStreet Monday – 6 Man Lineup

Here is the lineup I’m going with for Monday in a 6 Team League. DraftStreet’s Salary Costing is very tough, and there is little room for exploitation compared to other sites.

Guard

DJ Augustin is the mystery on DraftStreet, still the one starting PG that is priced low. He’s not a stud by any means, but he’s consistent enough to be a must pick in DraftStreet’s tough format. The other guard I love today is the Frenchman – Tony Parker. Fresh off a new contract, he can put up too many points and assists to be priced at $11k. Conley is hard to pass up right now, and Duhon is a solid value pick with Jameer Nelson out tonight – just be prepared for that FG-Miss light to keep flashing in your live scoring. And finally, how could I pass on getting Rondo in the lineup. I’ve owned him for so many years now in my big league that I like to think I know his playing patterns. Scarily, his last two games (10-3-11 and 10-5-10) were off nights. He’s the new-school fantasy J Kidd, and is going to be pumped playing against him tonight. He’s also tied with Dwight as the top scorer for Monday in FPPG for DraftStreet this season.

Forward

I like Rashard Lewis a lot tonight – as much as I will like him in this format all season. He has a ton going in his favor. Ryan Anderson is starting at PF, an will likely draw Josh Smith, Jameer Nelson is out, and Vince Carter is banged-up for this game. The Magic are going to rely heavily on Dwight and Rashard tonight for offense, but Rashard has been very inconsistent the last 2 seasons – so I will not be surprised if he somehow manages to make this situation a clunker either. Dorrell Wright is my utility value pick. He’s been consistent since starting in GS in all categories, even with Steph Curry back in the lineup. Even if he has an off shooting night, he can produce across the board. For $8,726 he’s one of the best value picks out there. Taj Gibson is another great value pick tonight, but his tendency to get in foul trouble worries me. Rudy Gay is on fire right now, and I don’t think anyone on Phoenix will stop that. He’s my 2nd choice, especially being that he’s 2nd in FPPG in this format from this player pool, and only 16th most expensive. I also think it’s worth paying for Gerald Wallace, Dirk and Carmelo tonight if possible.

Center

I spent my money on Dwight Howard and Joahkim Noah because I think the Center drop-off is pretty large after these two, and there’s not a ton of value to be had. I would definitely understand going for Marc Gasol vs. PHO, and I could see value picks in Bargnani, Biedrins and Chandler being OK.

That’s it for the Monday games. Check back tomorrow for Tuesday’s games and information on the Weekly Drafts on DraftStreet. Good luck tonight!
