DraftZone is Back! (With a $500 RG Freeroll!)
For a while, a topic of discussion on the RotoGriners Forums revolved around DraftZone’s surprisingly low traffic. DZ’s site was great, the games were innovative and fun, they had Live Sit and Draft contests, heck, they even had Gary Payton! It didn’t add up. Well, the owners of DraftZone must have also realized this, and now they’re doing something about it…that’s right Grinders, DraftZone is back! And it all starts off with a $500 Freeroll for the Grinders!
New and Improved DraftZone
The site, for all intensive purposes, looks the same, but that’s not where you’ll find the improvements. Here’s a breakdown of the new changes and additions to DraftZone, and a few noteworthy facts you should look for:
$500 Freeroll – First, the free money. This week RotoGrinders is hosting a $500 Freeroll. You’ll see entry to the freeroll at the top of the contest lobby on the home page. There may be more to come beyond just Week 2.

New Management – I recently spoke with Mike Hannegan on the phone, the new CEO of DraftZone. Originally an investor, Mike is now on full-time with DraftZone as CEO of the company. Reduced Rake – This year, DraftZone has reduced their rake! As an example, instead of being $5 to win $9, the contests are now $5.50 to win $10. This will add up over the long run and is great to see.
Improved Sit and Draft Software – As you can see in the image in this article, DZ’s Sit and Draft software has been improved. This is a unique feature that you just can’t experience anywhere else in Daily Fantasy, and if you’re on the fence, I highly recommend visiting DZ to at least try out one Sit and Drafts…you’ll be hooked. The software was already tops in the industry, and made for a great experience, and now it’s been improved! Features include: Sort by PPG or Last 3, Player Search, Player Queue, Sort by My Rankings or Default, SMS notification of Draft Start Time, and more. It’s the only game that truly provides the Season Long experience of Fantasy Football, each and every week.
Three Seats to the FFPC 2012 – One of the new promos DZ is running, is they are offering three seats to the Fantasy Football Players Championship to the top three on the leaderboard for this NFL season. The FFPC has a Live Draft in Vegas and $125,000 grand prize!
NCAA…Basketball – That’s right, DraftZone will be offering NCAA Basketball this year! This is a unique offering, and could make for a great fantasy game. Especially if you combine your March Madness brackets with the Draft Zone…
Bracket Challenges – The Bracket Challenge is a unique game type where you join a bracket with up to 64 other users. You then paired in head-to-head Live Sit and Draft Matches, for each week of the NFL Season. If you win, you advance. If you lose, you’re out! It’s another unique game type and experience, you just can’t find elsewhere. Mike also told me that DZ will have a free buy-in Bracket Challenge awarding another FFPC seat to the winner at some point this season!
There are other great features on DraftZone, but that covers the major changes.
