Top DFS Picks
Max Verstappen: Red Bull is aiming for an undefeated season, claiming all 12 races to date and doing so in dominant fashion. It feels like no help at all to inform anyone even remotely following F1 that Verstappen is a high-caliber play in DFS, but yet week in and week out game theorists find ways to spend money elsewhere. At a price of $15,400, DraftKings is doing everything possible to keep him out of lineups. However, we’re going to need the most compelling evidence possible to leave him out after qualifying. His last 5 fantasy totals: 37, 41, 39, 40, 38. A legend is unfolding in front of us, and let’s not be the smartest people in the room until he proves us wrong for doing it.
Alexander Albon: Playing Max is going to mean sacrificing elsewhere. Albon is coming in with an attractive pre-qualifying price of 4600, which pairs well with his superior odds compared to teammate Logan Sargeant. As of now, he is +200 for a top-10 finish where Sargeant is just +850. We’ll need to see the qualifying setup and practice speeds before we get overly excited, but he is a driver to keep an eye on.
Guanyu Zhou: This is going to be a spot where ownership and qualifying will make all the difference in the final decision. Zhou is priced at just 3200 on DraftKings, and that is going to make a big difference in affording the astronomical Verstappen price tag. If his ownership is reasonable and qualifying within reason, he looks like a possible salary saver. His odds are currently similar to that of ally Valtteri Bottas, and that would ultimately be enough to make it attractive at this price. Both Bottas and Zhou have failed to classify in the past four races, which is likely a contributor to the suppressed price. A lot can happen at 200+ MPH, and that gives Zhou as good a chance as any, all things considered, to reach the optimal lineup on Sunday.
