EPL DFS Targets: Tuesday, January 12th

The Tuesday slate is a short one as it features just three matches, however, there are big enough tournaments on DraftKings that it warrants a quick writeup to help guide you in making your selections for Tuesday’s slate on DraftKings.

If you’re playing more on Wednesday, I’ll have a breakdown that goes further in depth for the big January Jam tournament. For Tuesday we can take a quick peek.

Goalkeepers

David De Gea, Manchester United $4,500 – Manchester United are on the road to Newcastle, but they are the biggest favorites on the board. The odds of a Manchester United clean sheet and win are high as are the odds of a save or two for De Gea. Newcastle have improved in their shot taking ability in recent weeks including 15 against Arsenal in week 20 (6 on target).

Wayne Hennessey, Crystal Palace $4,000 – If you’re choosing to go a little cheaper, then Hennessey should be your guy as he’s facing the extremely weak Aston Villa offense that is the worst in England in almost all offensive categories. Hennessey may not see any pressure the whole match but the opponent is very weak that I am confident in taking him for some guaranteed points.

Defenders

Pape Souare, Crystal Palace $3,500 – Palace left winger makes a great play in this matchup against Aston Villa as Souare is one of the crossing threats for Crystal Palace and likely makes one of the top defending options on Tuesday.

Charlie Daniels and Adam Smith, Bournemouth $3,100 and $3,300 – The Bournemouth pair are worth considering for your teams Tuesday as they face the team that allows the most crosses to opponents on the season. West Ham have been “leading” the premiership in that category and with the full backs contributing heavy crosses in recent weeks, I wouldn’t be surprised to continue to pile on the Hammers.

Midfielders

Ashley Young, Manchester United $4,300 – He’s questionable for the Red Devils, but recent reports claim that he should play this match. If he does start he’s been taking corners and delivering crosses for Manchester United. Young is cheap enough to allow you to fit whoever you want on your teams and carries a high enough floor to consider in cash games.

Dimitri Payet, West Ham United $6,200 – The mention of Payet here is for GPP purposes only. Payet is coming off injury in which he missed close to 3 months. Upon his return he is expected to start against a Bournemouth squad that likes to hold possession and tries to control and keep the opponent from getting plenty of crosses. This makes Payet a GPP option alone, however, his price is so depressed after being gone for so long that I expect that once he normalizes he’ll be close to 8K rather than the 6.2K he’s at right now.

Jason Puncheon, Crystal Palace $5,100 – He’s been taking over the crosses lately for the Eagles from the midfield and with their team depleted due to injury he’s been looking as the optimal play from that team. With Palace facing Aston Villa, it’s safe to target any of their midfielders in this matchup, especially in GPPs.

Forwards

Wayne Rooney, Manchester United $6,400 – There are not a lot of options here at forward for this slate, but one of the clearer options is Wayne Rooney. Rooney has stepped his performance up a bit with 8 shots and a goal against Swansea last time out. This week with Newcastle on the docket, you can expect a similar performance and with similar dominance from the Manchester United side.

Frazier Campbell, Crystal Palace $3,300 – Crystal Palace are heavy favorites in this matchup and will likely be playing a 4-2-3-1 formation which puts the emphasis on the forward to work alone and try to deliver shots for his team. Campbell has pace and an eye for goal, if he does get the start would make for an excellent choice.

More plays from different positions that I may have exposure to: Adrian (GK, WHM $3,700), Aaron Cresswell (DEF, WHM $4,400), Joel Ward (DEF, CPL $3,700), Juan Mata (MID, MUN $6,200), Matt Ritchie (MID, BOU $6,100), Jordan Veretout (MID, AVL $4,600), Mauro Zarate (MID, WHM $4,900), Anthony Martial (FOR, MUN $6,300), Jordan Ayew (FOR, AVL $4,000)
