Bob Bradley’s debut last weekend with Swansea went better than most expected as Swansea managed to claw their way back to a narrow 3-2 defeat. The team will have an easier matchup this week against Watford as they look to take the home debut of Bob Bradley and get all three points. Watford won’t be an easy opponent however as they have wins this season against Manchester United, West Ham and Middlesbrough. It’ll be interesting to see if Swansea are more attack oriented this week or if they continue to struggle to score goals.

Swansea Top Plays

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Midfielder, $9,200 – Siggy played as a false nine last time against Arsenal, and it didn’t hurt his crossing ability as he still managed 7 crosses against Arsenal. He also scored a goal and had 3 shots for a total of 23 fantasy points. If he continues this trend then he’s going to be a must play week in and week out this season.

Neil Taylor, Defender, $3,700 – He’s returning from injury and is VERY cheap considering the other prices of starting full backs. Taylor doesn’t allow for plenty of upside or even a high floor, but he’s playing at home and in a solid matchup, he’s likely one of the better options available at this point for his price.

Swansea Secondary Plays

Modou Barrow, Midfield, $5,800 – Between Fer, Baston and Barrow, there are three secondary options for Swansea to choose from. I decided to go with Barrow for a few reasons. As a winger he has the ability to freely roam in the offense and that could create opportunities for his teammates, and in part he can get some freedom from the attention the defense will give to Gylfi and Baston. Moreover, his opposing defender, Holebas, will be more focused on attacking making Barrow a more likely source of offense for the Swans this week.

Watford Secondary Plays

Etienne Capoue, Midfielder, $6,500 – We haven’t mentioned Capoue in a while here, but he might be back in our lives this week as Watford look to get some points from this matchup against Swansea. Capoue went through an early season run where he was scoring goals every week and seemed to be a consistent double digit scorer for 5 straight weeks. Since then he’s had three matches where he didn’t eclipse the double digit threshold. He does however have potential for double digit output without a score as evidenced against Arsenal with 14 points and no goal or assist. I think he’s more likely for an assist this week than a goal, and the projections have him at 11 points. The potential is there for goals and thus he’s worth a GPP flyer.

Troy Deeney, Midfielder/Forward, $7,600 – For just a little bit more, you can get Deeney who is the ultimate tournament play as he relies heavily on goals for his value. Last week without a goal against Middlesbrough he recorded just 1 fantasy point and saw his price drop by $100. This week he’s facing Swansea on the road, in a matchup that looks similar to that with Bournemouth where he scored and recorded 17 fantasy points. His price is depressed from that point by about $700 and that dip in price makes him a relative value play this week. He also takes penalties for the team giving him that much more potential.

West Ham finally got their win last week against Palace after several weeks with substandard performances. They got Cresswell back last week, but he got suspended due to a red card. They might run into some defensive problems against this Sunderland team if Sunderland can put together something. Sunderland on the other hand have been starting last season’s DFS favorite Wahbi Khazri in recent weeks giving them more creativity and fire power on offense.

West Ham Top Plays

Dimitri Payet, Midfielder, $10,400 – He’s extremely expensive and probably worth the price. He’s also one of the most consistent players in the league and has a really good matchup. My only complaint about him is his price tag and the fact that the output you expect from him is similar to other options that are a little cheaper than he is. However, you just can’t really go wrong with Payet this week as he is the premier option for cash games.

Michail Antonio, Midfielder/Forward, $8,600 – The projections have him as the highest scoring player this week, and while you can’t always trust projections, Antonio does carry a special place this week as he’s going against a Sunderland team that has allowed almost 2 headed attempts a game and have 3 errors leading to goals so far this season. Antonio carries high potential, as well as the floor of multiple shots.

West Ham Secondary Plays

Manuel Lanzini, Midfielder, $6,400 – He’s likely to start in an attacking middle position which gives him great upside for tournaments. He managed a goal last time out and 20 fantasy points against Palace. Will he repeat that performance again this week?

Sunderland Top Plays

Wahbi Khazri, Midfielder, $6,600 – If West Ham revert back to their porous defense they exhibited in recent weeks, then Khazri is a great play as he can deliver goals, crosses and shots. He has been taking corner kicks for this team and is the biggest beneficiary of an open game if this does indeed turn into one. He’s pried much lower than his potential and is thus a great play for tournaments.

Sunderland Secondary Plays

Jermain Defoe, Forward, $7,400 – Without goals in the last two games, Defoe’s price has dropped to it’s lowest since week 1 against Manchester City. Defoe has four goals so far this year and is now facing what could be the weakest defense in the league. At his price, he’s almost a must play for tournaments. He has 12 shots in his last three weeks and should be able to get more this time around.

Liverpool weren’t able to break through Manchester United’s defense last time out and were forced to settle with a 0-0 draw last Monday. This week they head into a match with Tony Pulis’ side, West Brom in what should be a possession filled event where Liverpool put all the pressure on West Brom and probably get away with a win. West Brom on the other hand are coming off of a week where they stole a point away from Tottenham to mark their third 1-1 draw in a row. This week they’ll look for a similar result as they try to overcome the suspension of central defender Jonny Evans.

Liverpool Top Plays

James Milner, Defender, $7,600 – Forget that Milner is a defender in this match. If I told you that a player would be part of an attack that was favored to win by 67% and this player would be the main crossing player from both corners and open play. And to add to that, this player has 3 goals in his last three games and has averaged 8 crosses a game in that span. For $7,600 I’d consider that player a very good play and borderline cash play. This is why you can’t eliminate Milner from contention just because he’s a defender on DK. In fact, now if DK gets a clean sheet, he gets the bonus points from that as well giving him a tiny bit extra value. It won’t be easy to fit Milner, but I’ll do my best when building my teams.

Liverpool Secondary Plays

Roberto Firmino, Midfielder/Forward, $8,700 – If Firmino returns to the false 9 role that he played in recent weeks without Sturridge on the pitch, then Firmino makes for a very interesting option. He scored just before the international break and again during the break for Brazil. Last match against United was a 0-0 draw, but this week should feature some goals for this team. Firmino would be a good tournament option especially with this game being a late start which will decrease his ownership.

West Bromwich Albion Top Plays

James McClean, Midfielder, $6,300 – He’s taking corners for the team and delivering open play crosses. Liverpool like to tighten the field of play and that opens up the outside for the opposing team to deliver crosses. McClean should get 5+ crosses with a shot or two. He has some potential but not enough to warrant a cash play spot, but he’s a good play for GPPs if you think that West Brom can score some goals on Liverpool.

West Bromwich Albion Secondary Plays

Nacer Chadli, Midfielder/Forward, $7,200 – He scored last time out against his old team and Chadli has now made it 4 goals and 2 assists in 6 matches with the baggies. Liverpool have given up plenty of goals already this season and Chadli has the potential for scoring off a counter attack or a cross from McClean.
