DFS is funny…
I’ve spent more time researching and grinding PGA DFS than any other sport over the last six months and I have no results to show for it. It’s easily been my least profitable, but remains my favorite to play each week. When we had the week off for Thanksgiving, I ventured into the Euro Tour streets and was able to cash my single lineup in all contests. This gave me the motivation to revamp my Euro model and it led to another solid week of results last week. Obviously, a two-week sample doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things and it doesn’t prove that the model is predictive, but it always feels good when hard work pays off. We have one more event on the schedule this year, so let’s end it with a bang.
If you played Euro Tour DFS last week, then you’ll be very familiar with Jumeirah Golf Estates because that’s where the Golf in Dubai Championship was held. It was a one-time event and should serve as a nice warm-up for this week’s DP World Tour Championship. There are a number of big names in the field this week, although we usually see Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm play this event. Instead, the field is headlined by Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood, and Tyrrell Hatton. The course itself is a long Par 72 that measures nearly 7,700 yards. In order to contend here, you have to be long off the tee (the route to most winners here) or very good with your long irons (the route for Matthew Fitzpatrick in 2016).
There are only 65 golfers in the field, so we will not have to worry about golfers missing the cut. How great will it be to end the year with every lineup getting 6-of-6 golfers through the cut? I’m not putting a big emphasis on course fit this week, but will be looking for good ball strikers and birdie makers. It’s tough to blend the statistics between the two tours, so you’ll see that golfers that play primarily on the PGA Tour won’t have statistics in my model. I won’t be doing a video this week, but am going to post a screenshot of my top 20 for the week. This way you get access to the model and don’t have to listen to me yammer on for 20 minutes.
