Author Disclaimer: Please remember, these picks are not necessarily safe for your 50/50-H2H games. They are intended to separate yourself from the herd in an attempt to be contrarian and different. The most logical outcomes don’t always play out on a given NBA slate, so we are looking for the guys that may surprise, that few will roster.

EDITORS NOTE: The spurs are resting multiple players including Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tiago Splitter and Marco Belinelli. Kawhi Leonard and Boris Diaw are the most likely beneficiaries, with Danny Green also expected to see an extended workload.

POINT GUARD

Damian Lillard $8,300 (vs. Mavericks) – Lillard finally put together a nice game last time out, playing 36 minutes and putting up a well-rounded stat line on his way to 48.7 FD points. I’ll be avoiding Tony Parker on a back to back vs. Beverly, so that leaves Lillard as the top PG to own tonight.

Devin Harris $4,700 (@ Blazers) – Harris is getting a lot of run as the backup PG for the Mavs, thoroughly outplaying Jameer Nelson in every game this season. When he enters the game, he is given a green light to shoot, and has been racking up assists as well this season, averaging five per game. Harris should see 25-28 mins every night, and provides instant offense for the second unit. He makes a great play for this price tonight in your GPP’s.

SHOOTING GUARD

James Harden $10,300 (vs. Spurs) – If you can afford Harden tonight, get him into your lineup. He is on fire to start the season, playing massive minutes, and filling the stat sheet, putting up three straight 50+ fantasy point performances. Don’t be scared of the matchup, Harden averaged 25 pts, 5 reb, and 6 ast last season against them.

Wesley Matthews $6,000 (vs. Mavericks) – Wes is having a good start to the season, logging huge minutes while putting up very solid and consistent performances. With only a two game slate tonight, and how hard it is to find consistent production at SG, Wes is a near lock to make my teams at this price.

SMALL FORWARD

Chandler Parsons $6,700 (@ Blazers) – After a letdown game in his first game for the Mavs, Parsons has bounced back with three solid performances in a row. Parsons is a few bucks cheaper than Batum, and has had a much better fantasy season to start the year, so I see little reason to pay up for Batum tonight. Put Parsons in at SF and continue on.

Trevor Ariza $6,500 (vs. Spurs) – If you put Parsons in, why not pair him up with the man who replaced him in Houston this season, and is doing a great job at SF for the Rockets. Ariza plays major minutes every game, and is averaging 17.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 3.2 assists a game. Ariza has a tough matchup with the Spurs, but I am not worried as Ariza can contribute across the board and is not reliant just on points for his fantasy value.
