Quarterback
Drew Brees ($8900) – Pricing is beyond soft this week on DK which makes it rather easy to fit in any player that you desire to own. I will start with Drew Brees, the Saints are coming back home after another road loss, this is becoming a very frequent theme for the team. New Orleans appears to be two completely different teams, they cannot win on the road and are very difficult to beat at home. Two weeks ago the Saints had a very similar situation, coming home after a loss and desperate for a win. Last time in this situation Brees was somewhat disappointing against the Browns; however the team did win with ease. I really like Brees in this situation, making him my top QB for week 5.
Philip Rivers ($7000) – This price (like many this week) makes absolutely no sense. Rivers has been very solid this season and has led the Chargers to some early season success. With the loss of Ryan Matthews and Danny Woodhead the Chargers have proven they are not capable of running the football. The match-up is ideal, the New York Jets are terrible against the pass, and they currently are giving up the 2nd most FPs/game against the QB position. Rivers makes an excellent play at this depressed price.
Ben Roethlisberger ($7400) – This is strictly a match-up play, as I am not a huge fan of Big Ben the fantasy QB. Jacksonville is not a good football team, particularly on the defensive side of the football where they currently rank near the bottom in all defensive rankings. Against the QB, Jacksonville gives up the 3rd most FPs/game at 24. The Jags defense does not offer much resistance to NFL offenses, Big Ben should have no trouble achieving value in this match-up.
Running Back
DeMarco Murray ($7500) – Murray has started the season with four straight games of 100 yards and a TD, this makes Murray the most consistent and dominant running back at this point in the NFL season. Health has always been an issue for Murray; at this point he 100% healthy and paying up for him makes complete sense, especially at this price. The Cowboys are utilizing Murray consistently in all types of games; big leads, close matchups, and large deficits. Additionally, the Houston Texans are currently allowing RBs to rush for over 5 yards/carry, which just adds to my week 5 Murray love.
Rashad Jennings ($5500) – The Falcons just allowed Matt Asiata to rush for 3 TDs, for that reason alone I will recommend Rashad Jennings. The Falcons have allowed 9 rushing TDs in just 4 weeks and currently are allowing the most FPs to running backs at 31+/game. These defensive numbers are atrocious, which makes Jennings my favorite RB play of the week. I would not be concerned with Jennings disappointing week 4 performance in which the Giants blew out the Redskins and really did not need the services of Rashad.
Le’Veon Bell ($7400) – Here is another play against the putrid defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville surrenders the third most FPs to the RB position making this an especially elite play because Pittsburgh has historically been a team committed to the run. Additionally, Bell has been a very active part of the passing game catching nearly 5 balls per game. The Steelers have always been a team that does not shy away from turning to the run to bury a team, which is clearly best case scenario if you chose to roster Bell.
