FanDuel MLB Single Entry Series Recap

RotoGrinders continues to provide industry-leading contests, as the conclusion of our most recent FanDuel Single Entry Series for MLB will see six skilled winners heading to Chicago for a live final and a shot at taking home a $10,000 first-place prize.

The final six are tedger, itsearlytho, tdff, scott5503, zzerowing, and killakahuna. The rules of the contest were simple – play in the featured Single Entry contest for that week and your top four scores would make up your final score – have the highest score of the week and you win the live finals trip! The entry fees varied from $2 (for Week 1) all the way up to $100 (Week 6), so there were opportunities for high-rollers and low-stakes Grinders to take down a live finals spot.

Let’s recap all the exciting action…

Week 1 $2 MLB Stolen Base

1. tedger 904.60
2. md0530 892.50
3. bigal28 856.80
4. aedenise 854.60
5. d4v3f144 844.50

bigal28 looked to be the frontrunner heading into Sunday with three strong 200+ performances, including a second place finish in the Wednesday early slate, and he held a slight lead over md0530, who had finished fourth in that same Wednesday contest. However, the Sunday contest would change everything, as md0530 would outscore bigal28 by more than 50 points to move ahead of him. But that 189.40 score from md0530 would not be enough to hold onto the top spot as tedger would put up a massive 252.70 point 11th place finish score to surge into the lead by just over 10 points to win the week and live final seat.

Week 2 $25 MLB Pickoff

1. itsearlytho 886.40
2. ac_karma_sports 840.60
3. budsterboy1 836.90
4. dano6489 829.80
5. rubadubducky 808.80

It was a close race all the way to the end, but it was a big Sunday outing from itsearlytho that would see him come out on top. He trailed ac_karma_sports and budsterboy1 heading into the day by just .5 points but would easily have the top score of that group with a 229.20 point outing to win the week by nearly 50 points. ac_karma_sports edged out budsterboy1 for second place.

Week 3 $10 MLB Ace

1. tdff 789.60
2. jcw490 785.90
3. lbrbb2 775.60
4. chris_1188 773.00
5. brucejennerdds 771.90

For the first time in the Single Entry Series, the weekly winner was not determined on Sunday, as a strong third place finish from tdff in the Saturday early slate contest moved him into the top spot, and he would hold on as the remaining two contests for the week were low-scoring affairs. He passed runner-up jcw490 (who had a third place finish of his own earlier in the week) while one of the top-ranked MLB players (#51), brucejennerdds, would round out the top 5.

Week 4 $50 MLB Blast

1. scott5503 769.70
2. slipsitz 748.20
3. roddy284 735.40
4. all_day_lj 727.60
5. zzerowing 727.30

This week was locked up by Thursday, as eventual winner scott5503 would put up two big scores on Thursday, including a third place finish in the Main slate to put up a score that could not be topped. slipsitz would improve on his score with a 21st place score on the Saturday Main slate, but that would only be good enough to move him into 2nd place.

Week 5 $5 MLB Single

1. zzerowing 819.40
2. meilliem 817.00
3. toowitty 814.40
4. fantasyking33 808.40
5. lukiej07 788.20

This week’s contest might have been the closest of all of them, as the top four were separated by just 11 points. A steady, consistent week by zzerowing (four scores of 176 points or better) would be enough to hold the top spot, and it was his 205.50 38th place finish in the Saturday Main slate that would be the difference maker, as he scored 5.3 more points than meilliem in that contest to take the top score over them by just 2.4 points. They would have to hold off some big scores on Sunday including a massive 287 point third place finish from eventual fifth place finisher lukiej07 and a solid 228.20 performance from eventual third place finisher toowitty. One big hit short for the RotoGrinders member from taking down the top spot.

Week 6 $100 MLB Upper Decker

1. killakahuna 781.20
2. BigT444 759.90
3. petrgibbons 746.10
4. dariv87 737.80
5. garbear131 736.10

RotoGrinders contributor BigT444 did his best to take down the high-roller version of the Single Entry Series by taking down the $100 MLB Upper Decker on the Sunday Main Slate. The only problem was the guy he edged out to win that contest was the one guy who could beat him for the weekly top score, and that was killakahuna, whose second place finish in that contest sealed the live finals spot. Some big names were among the top 20 in this weeks contest, including petrgibbons in third, bigpapagates in 10th, and cjkalt in 17th.
