NFL DFS Quarterback Pick for Week 13
Matt Stafford – $7800
The Los Angeles Rams are one of the highest projected totals on the slate, and while this seems like a spot to play the running game, I can’t wait to play Matt Stafford and the passing attack here. The Rams were in similar spots in recent weeks as heavy favorites against the Texans, Lions and Giants. Despite winning these games handily, Stafford still threw the ball over 30 times for 300+ yards in 2 of 3, with the only exception being his 4td performance against the Giants. In a great matchup against the Jaguars that rank dead last in DVOA against the pass, I’m all over Stafford paired with a Rams stack this week.
NFL DFS Running Back Pick for Week 13
Jamaal Williams – $6500
While Williams is projected to carry relatively high ownership this week, I still plan on playing him at this price. We currently have Williams projected to be the fifth highest owned running back, but I like the savings he provides. While the Lions are touchdown underdogs this week, Jamaal Williams projects for a 69% market share of the running back touches, against a Vikings team that ranks 2nd to last in fantasy points given up to running backs. Even if the game script becomes unfavorable and the Vikings get ahead early, Williams has shown throughout his career he is a capable pass catcher out of the backfield.
NFL DFS Wide Receiver Pick for Week 13
Cooper Kupp – $9000
Spending up for Kupp here, adds to why I’m going to be spending down for Williams at running back. Even with Odell Beckham integrated in the offense last week, Cooper Kupp still saw double digit targets, and we project him for just over 13 again here versus the Jags. Kupp has been by far the best pay up option at receiver all season, and he’s someone I’ll be locking and loading alongside Stafford again this week.
NFL DFS Tight End Pick for Week 13
Update: With the amount of Rams I’m getting to, I’m finding myself landing on James O’Shaughnessey more than Moreau, for $500 cheaper.
Foster Moreau – $5000
Darren Waller is currently listed as doubtful for this one, and it seems very unlikely that he will be ready to play after injuring himself last week. On October 24th when Waller missed the game, Foster Moreau saw 6 targets, catching all 6 of them en route to 60 yards and a touchdown. While we only project Moreau for a 12% share of targets this week, saving salary at tight end will allow us to spend up at other positions. In lineups I’m not playing Moreau, or in a stack with Carr, I like getting to $6400 Hunter Renfrow as well.
Slate Strategy and Final Thoughts for Week 13
This is projecting to be a very interesting week with so many high spreads. My mindset going into this slate of games is to not worry too much about blowouts, and to simply play the highest projected offenses. I’m going eyes closed, head first, can’t lose into Rams stacks this week, pairing Stafford with Kupp and at least one other weapon. If you’re playing in a large field, I don’t mind getting up to 2 of Beckham, Jefferson, Higbee or even Henderson alongside Kupp.
As the ownership of the Rams doesn’t project to be overly high, I’m not concerned about having to get too different with this construction. While mixing in contrarian plays is important, I think people often make the mistake of trying to get TOO different. I will be making sure I have at least 1 or 2 low owned plays this week, while strongly targeting the Rams, Buccaneers, Raiders and Chargers.
