2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the FedEx St. Jude Championship this week outside of Memphis, TN, and despite an occasional storm or two, the weather should cooperate nicely (and certainly better than it did last week).

ComboPGAcomparison

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

FedEx St. Jude Championship Weather Forecast

Thursday, August 15th

It’s probably our best day of the tournament, not quite perfect but pretty close to it. We’ll be dry with winds topping out around 5-10 mph sustained and an occasional stronger gust. I think both morning and afternoon waves see fairly similar weather.

Friday, August 16th

It’s maybe a touch breezier Friday and a chance for a spotty downpour at any point… but still pretty solid. Rain chances are low (20-30%), and winds should hold around 10 mph through the day.

Saturday, August 17th

Winds should build slightly through the day, from 5-10 mph in the AM to a bit over 10 mph by the afternoon (with stronger gusts). There’s a chance for a stray storm as well.

Sunday, August 18th

Similar to Saturday, we’ll get the strongest winds in the afternoon, but even at that time, winds will likely top out just a hair above 10 mph. There is a chance for a delay from a shower or storm.

FedEx St. Jude Championship Weather Thoughts

I’m not too confident that we’ll see a significant weather edge in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, so I don’t even have a “take” to give you on which wave I’d prefer. I would note that both weekend days look to be a little easier in the morning than afternoon, but as far as the Thursday / Friday waves, I’d just play it based on projections and toss the weather aside for this tournament.
