Predict the top three finishers of the race.

ebeimfohr: Verstappen, Hamilton, Leclerc
Stevietpfl: Perez, Sainz, Hamilton

Which useful trend or statistic stuck out most during your research?

ebeimfohr: The sheer volume of drivers taking grid penalties this week. Six drivers – Verstappen, Leclerc, Ocon, Bottas, Norris and Schumacher all move to the back of the grid. It’s one thing for a couple of drivers to take grid penalties, and it’s another for 1/3 of the grid to do so, particularly when we include Verstappen and Leclerc. Our opponents tend to play F1 tournaments VERY chalky, and this shake-up should allow us to build teams for crazy scenarios with drivers from the back of the grid getting ownership discounts and potentially chalky drivers losing many finishing places.

Stevietpfl: The race winner has started 1st in six of the last seven Belgian GPs. The last time the race winner started outside the top ten was 2004 with Kimi Raikkonen.

How will you try to best differentiate yourself from the rest of the field?

ebeimfohr: Using the drivers from the back of the grid. The Red Bull and Ferrari are very clearly the two fastest cars this week in practice and qualifying, so it’s not inconceivable that Verstappen or Leclerc come from the back for a win or podium, but we’ll definitely get ownership discounts on them. I am also a Mercedes guy, and I think they are the alternative to this approach. They didn’t have the pace thus far, but I’m never counting Lewis Hamilton out of a race, especially when Max and Charles are starting at the back.

Stevietpfl: Go underweight on Verstappen and Leclerc. They’re two of the fastest cars in the field, but with the penalties, they’re going to start outside the top ten. There is a lot of downside driving through the field. Could they win, yes, but I think we see Sainz and Perez battle for the win this weekend. I think Max is going to get a lot of ownership, and if Perez or Sainz can win, they should outscore the drivers driving through the field.

What is your hot take of the week?

ebeimfohr: Verstappen and Leclerc both come from the back to finish on the podium, alongside Lewis Hamilton.

Stevietpfl: Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes finally put together the right strategy to win a race.
