A FOURTH Straight Milly Maker Winner for Stevie’s NASCAR DFS Package!

Article Image

The NASCAR DFS package is off to a hot start to the season after we had a RotoGrinders subscriber chop the DraftKings Milly Maker at the Daytona 500 for $550,000.

While GatorMAB didn’t win the $1,000,000 all to himself like the previous three winners, chopping 1st and 2nd for $550,000 sure feels like a win.

GatorMAB was happy he decided to sign up for the 3-day pass after he stated:

“With NFL over, I felt like firing DAYTONA 500 & bought Stevie’s 3-day pass for $29.99. Holy wow, was that money well spent!!”

Don’t miss out on everything this NASCAR DFS subscription has to offer.

Interview With GatorMAB

GatorMAB was kind enough to answer a few questions for us about his big win.

Where you are from, your job, family, etc. How did you get started in DFS? Did you have success right away?

I am mostly from Tampa – I’ve been here since 1978 (46 years this summer). I have been a CPA for 31 years, working at a combination of big firms and small companies, before buying a CPA practice and merging it with my side practice.

I am really more of a poker player, but I got started in DFS on FanDuel and DraftStreet back in 2014. I won a $5 contest for $200 and was hooked, but I didn’t have any early success. I started grinding NFL 4-5 years ago, putting together a winning 2022 2023 season. Hitting two big Showdown wins for $30,000+ and $14,000+ last year was the main highlight of my season.

Are there any particular tools or pieces of Premium Content offered in the NASCAR Package that you relied on when doing your research for the Daytona 500?

I relied heavily on the projections, but I was a little rusty on NASCAR, so I did listen to the Breakdown Show. Otherwise, it was LineupHQ and the NASCAR projections.

Were you aware of the sweat you had as the race was coming to an end? If so, tell us about what those final laps were like.

My intention in playing was to watch the race on Sunday, as there was not much else on. Because of the rain delay, I knew it started at 4 p.m. on Monday, but I was at the office, and it was tax season, so I was not watching at all.

I got home about 7:30 p.m. and flipped the race on as soon as I walked in the door. I opened my DK app and saw I was winning about $2,200 on my $700 entries, so I was pretty pleased, as that is normally a great result!

The race was in a yellow-flag caution with 4 laps left, and I noticed I was winning this little $8 contest for $1,000; then I looked at the one in the Milly Maker, and I was in 45th and winning $700.

Once the race restarted, everything got shuffled, so I put down the app and watched the end of the race intently. When the wreck happened, and Chastain was out, and he took his teammate out with him, I opened up the app again, and HOLY S***, I was winning $550,000 in the Milly Maker. I called a buddy and was freaking out, knowing it probably wouldn’t hold if there were a restart. My guys were 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, and 12th in that lineup.

I only had to wait maybe another minute, and they made the announcement that the race was over! I kept refreshing my phone. DK was adding points and subtracting points, but I was always still tied for 1st. I called my parents, then my brother and his wife, and then two of my best friends who get/play DFS & poker. Then my phone started blowing up. Word was spreading, and now the real sweat was on!

I started a quiet celebration. I poured a couple of ounces of my super rare 25-year-old Glenlivet scotch, then opened up a bottle of BV George LeTour Cabernet. I finally went to bed at 2 a.m. and the results were still not final.

I woke up at 7 a.m. – still not final. DK Customer Service tweeted around 8 a.m. that “there were some delays in finalizing the NASCAR contests from last night. Please be patient.”

I’m in full freak-out mode now. Finally, at 10:30 a.m., they tweeted again that all contests were getting paid.

I checked my app again, and I went from “winning” to “won!”

Do you have any suggestions for casual players who are trying out NASCAR DFS?

Just trust your process. If you have a good process for NFL or PGA, use that template for NASCAR. Personally, I listen to podcasts, read content, utilize the best projections, and then use the best tools.

Thank you GatorMAB for taking time out to answer some questions and congrats again on the win!

Multiple Big Winners

GatorMAB wasn’t the only winner within the first few weeks of the NASCAR season. Our NASCAR Discord channel has been littered with screenshots of people already having huge success this year, including the architect of the NASCAR DFS package himself, stevietpfl, who won $50,000 on FanDuel.
