Genesis Scottish Open Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Adam Scott

This week we head overseas to Scotland for the Genesis Scottish Open, and while the weather can occasionally be tricky here, we got off light this year.

As usual in my PGA weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

Genesis Scottish Open Weather Forecast

Thursday, July 10th

Thursday morning looks to be the windiest time frame of the entire tournament, but that’s not saying much. I expect sustained winds early between 10-15 mph, with gusts over 20 mph. By the afternoon that should settle a bit, down to 10-mph winds.

Friday, July 11th

Winds are calm all day, mostly hovering around 5 mph. Great stuff.

Saturday, July 12th

Light winds most of the day; maybe they pick up a hair late, but they should still max out around 10 mph.

Sunday, July 13th

Another nice day to close things out. Winds here could be a bit higher in the afternoon, perhaps 10-15 mph, but not too shabby (for Scotland).

Genesis Scottish Open Weather Thoughts

Simply put, surprisingly good weather. I slightly prefer a Thursday PM / Friday AM build, because you get to avoid the one somewhat windy timeframe on Thursday morning. Mostly though, the weather looks great and I don’t think it plays a huge role here. Worth noting that weather in Scotland can be famously fickle, but for now it looks all good!
