This chart shows a weighted scoring, relative comparison of run game metrics and ranks each matchup.
Why use it?
For a very simple understanding of past performance levels by the opposing defense based on metrics.
What are the metrics shown?:
MatchUp Rating: An aggregated score that examines and weights metrics defensive value over average, expected points added, blown run blocks created, yards blocked before contact, explosive run percent, home or road status, favorite or underdog status, rush success rates, and the combined metrics contained within offensive overall power ranking and defensive overall power ranking.
PowerRkD: Stands for Rushing Power Ranking Defense. Rushing power rankings include an examination of various key metrics:
Early Down Success Rate, Third Down Success Rate, PointsPerDrive, TDsPerDrive, YardsPerPlay, Rushing EPA, Rushing Positive Play Percent, Adjusted Line Yards, and other production factors. These are ranked based on 100 being a relative mid point, and numbers above 100 representing a strong defense. Numbers below 100 represent a weaker defense against the run.
