Grinder Rankings Update: Mar 16, 2012
Another week in the rankings means another article for you devoted Grinders to read, honoring the top players in all of daily fantasy. While the past couple of weeks have been slow, in terms of rankings updates, this week there was an absolute explosion of movement across the top 100. Three players moved up in the top 10, one more within the top 20, and two new players to the Grinders Leaderboard find themselves in the top 50. But in a week filled with small movement causing a stir across the board, there was only one double digit jump, the lowest total in over two months. Despite the lack of big jumps, the smaller movement and the new players were able to create a bang. So let’s get to it and kick it off with our headline story.
TWO NEW PLAYERS IN THE TOP 50
There were two guys this week who did the unthinkable and moved all the way from outside the top 100 to inside the top 50 players. One of them, Kaetorade, barely snuck in the top 50 and stands at #49 overall. Anytime a player can move that high up the board on their first appearance, there is truly something special going on. Great job to Kaetorade and we look forward to seeing how you advance moving forward. A potential future top ten player for sure. The other guy barely missed out on joining the top twenty-five players in the daily fantasy world, and joined the leaderboard at #26 overall. Nbarlotta clearly lived up to his name by winning big NBA games over the past few months consistently, and finally breaking through with a monster week that propelled him onto the leaderboard. Just an incredible achievement by a guy who we should expect to see flirting with the top ten range in the very near future. Congratulations to Nbarlotta and Kaetorade. One last shout-out goes to the third new player on the leaderboard this week, who’s entrance wasn’t as grand, but is still impressive nonetheless. TeamSleep joined the leaderboard at #95 overall, and I have to assume he used a strong knowledge of sleeper picks to do so. Congratulations TeamSleep. Well that was my one allowed bad joke per article, so let’s move on before I embarrass myself.
TOP TEN UPDATE: THREE PLAYERS MOVE UP
If not for the great week of the three new players on the board, the movement within the top ten would have taken the cake for headline story of the week in a heartbeat. I almost wanted to make two headline stories because of the significance. Anyways, the top ten saw a big shake up this week as three guys dropped the hammer on the daily fantasy world and hit it big in the winnings. One guy moved into the top three, another into the top five, and the third entered the top ten from outside the range. First, our newest top ten player is Dinkpiece who used a strong week to move up from #11 overall to #9 overall. Congratulations to Dinkpiece and good luck moving forward as you look to solidify a consistent standing in the top ten. Moving from 6th overall into 5th this week was Ohmsy, who finds himself closer to the goal of being #1 in all the land. Ohmsy has been a staple of the top ten for over a month now, and is back into a top five spot that was his once before. Congratulations Ohmsy, I’ll be sure not to join any of the leagues I see you in. Last but definitely not least was Beermakersfan who reeked havoc on the daily fantasy world and claimed the #3 spot on our Grinders Leaderboard. Moving up one spot, from 4th overall, Beermakersfan now finds himself within arms reach of Condia and Rudzia55 who have had a lock-grip on the top two spots for as long as I can remember. Can’t wait to see if Beermakersfan can overtake them. Good luck!
DOUBLE DIGIT JUMPS: SPRTSNUT4EVER STANDS ALONE
Only one player moved up the leaderboard by double digits, and as the storyline indicates, Sprtsnut4ever was that man. Sometimes it can go unnoticed just how hard it is to move up the board by more than ten spots, but on weeks like this where big jumps were at a premium, you truly appreciate just how well Sprtsnut4ever must be playing. A big Grinder Nation shout-out goes to Sprtsnut4ever for his ten place leap this week. Keep it up! Here are the updated Top 25 Overall Grinders:

Alright so that just about does it for this week’s rankings update. Hopefully you had a few laughs at my expense, there’s been a lack of sleep this week so the corny jokes probably sounded funnier in my head than yours. Regardless, there are some terrific players out there who are doing some big things, and that’s exactly what makes this article important. The daily fantasy sports world is blowing up before our eyes, so recognizing the players who are able to sustain within the expansion, as well as those able to make a name for themselves, is a must. As the industry gets bigger and bigger, it can only be expected that more players will enter the leaderboard in the same fashion as Nbarlotta and Kaetorade after they get the gist of the games.
