BirdWings vs. vegetable_lasagna

Game 2: vegetable_lasagna 66 – BirdWings 60

Thoughts on Game 2:

Vegetable_Lasagna loaded up on the COL/ATL game, and it’s not a typical strategy we see for head to head games. It paid off for him tonight, and it had a lot to do with Dickerson and Rutledge. Rutledge has hit the ball well this season when he’s had the chance to play, and VL took advantage of his 4.4k price tag. Dickerson has moved into the starting lineup with Cargo hurt, and has been fantastic over the last 4 games. He used a lights out Bumgarner, but Bumgarner didn’t give him anything close to what he was hoping for at that price. Liriano was a disappoint leaving in the 4th inning with an injury, but both players had him so it didn’t hurt them. Colby Lewis has really struggled this season, and I don’t understand that play in a cash game at all.

Birdwings went with a very balanced pitching approach, and was ahead in that aspect of the matchup. AJ Burnett was a great option facing the struggling Padres offense, and Birdwings nailed it with him tonight. Iwakuma pitched a really decent game, and I thought he was a little under priced in this matchup. Birdwings like VL, targeted a lot of hitters in the COL/ATL game. After matching VL with the 5 players from that game, Birdwings nailed his Dozier pick. Lind, Marte, and Hardy just didn’t do enough for Birdwings to stay ahead of VL in this game.

This series has been great already, and the Championship matchup hasn’t disappointed at all. Vegetable_Lasagna now owns a 2 game lead over BirdWings, but both match ups have been super close. There’s still a lot that can happen, and we will be bringing you all the coverage here on RotoGrinders. Game 3 post will be up soon!
