Welcome to the recap of round 4 between Hixvillehunk and Brettfavre444. Favre was able to win the last 2 days and is now up 2-1. Tonight brings a large slate and a lot of options, I’m excited to see what kind of lineups these two guys have for us.

My Initial Thoughts On Both Lineups:

Favre actually decided to spend more on pitching tonight, and neither player decided to pay up for King Felix. Hixville has 3 Mets players for the second straight night, and I hope for his sake it works out better tonight. Favre went very balanced with his hitters, and only has one guy over 7k.

Breaking Down Favre’s Lineup:

1) Favre used a very interesting strategy tonight with his pitchers, and took two pitchers facing each other tonight. I really don’t like this strategy in cash games because you lose points for a loss. I really like the Cashner pick at home against Arizona. I think his hitters should have no problem giving him run support against Arroyo, and his stats are much better at home.

2) He decided to target Danks with 2 powerful right handed hitters, and I think this might really pay off for him. Cleveland is one of the best teams in the league against left handed pitching. I like Gomes a lot tonight, and don’t think a lot of people will be on him. Swisher is always a good pick against lefties, and this is my favorite part of his lineup.

3) For the first time in this series, Favre targeted the COL high O/U. He took 3 players from this game, but Hixville also took Wright and Young. Dickerson is a great play for me tonight, and I really liked his price on Draftstreet tonight. Dickerson has a lot of young talent and from what I’ve seen, he his no trouble hitting a good fastball. I think Wheeler is in trouble against these Rockies bats.

4) Will Myers and Andre Ethier are two players I liked tonight. All the right handed bats are in play for me tonight against the struggling Nuno. Will Myers season last year wasn’t a fluke, and I think he’s set to break out of this slump at anytime. Ethier has always hit right handed pitchers well in his career, and even though I like Koehler tonight, I don’t expect him to shut down the Dodgers completely.

Breaking Down Hixvillehunk’s Lineup:

1) Hixville decided to pay up for Mr. Strikeout himself, Stephen Straburg. Strasburg K/9 is over 14 right now, and I love this pick against Philly tonight. I think the worse pick on his team is Ricky Nolasco, and could be the downfall of the night. Nolasco has a 6.67 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP so far this season.

2) Known for using BvP, it was no shock to see Ryan Raburn in his lineup tonight. Raburn absolutely crushes the White Sox in his career, and is one of my Top value options of the night. Raburn is hitless in over 20 at bats, but I’m with Hixville on this one and playing the huge sample size.

3) He decided to pay up for Ortiz and Justin Upton tonight. Ortiz has a really good matchup tonight, and is a great play anytime he’s at home facing a right handed pitcher. He’s finally starting to swing the bat better, and could really have a few big hits tonight. Justin Upton is one of the hottest hitters over the last 7 days, and Lincecum is really struggling to get people out this season. I’m thinking between these two guys he should be able to get at least 1 homerun.

4) Brandon Moss is one of my top plays tonight, and I love him hitting against a righty at Fenway. Buchholz looks horrible to start the season and has given up 19 ER in only 25 innings. Moss hits right handed pitching very well, and I think Buchholz struggles again tonight.

How The Game Played Out:

1) WOW! What a game and what a bad beat for Hixvillehunk tonight. The 14th inning RBI single and run score by Myers was enough to put Favre over the top. Myers was having a good game before that, but getting that last hit had to make Farve happy about his pick.

2) Favre’s pitching was absolutely horrible tonight, and for him to win this matchup he has to be very happy. Both guys had Cole tonight, it came down to Morrow/Cashner vs Strasburg/Nolasco. If you would have told me Nolasco was going to score 10 points, I would have told you you’re crazy. Hixville was able to outscore Favre by 16.5 with his pitching tonight. I didn’t like the strategy Favre used for his pitchers tonight, and I don’t think we will see this again moving forward.

3) The right handed bats for Cleveland really showed up for both players tonight, but Favre got a slight edge by using 2 of them. Gomes and Swisher combined for 16.5, and was able to help make up the difference from the pitching. Raburn really showed us why a large sample BvP is always worth looking at, and was able to score 6.25 tonight. Gomes and Swisher really saved Favre tonight.

4) Hixville lost tonight because his hitters didn’t show up. Moss, Ortiz, and Upton cost him a little over 22% of his cap tonight, and they scored a huge 1.75 points combined. Anytime you don’t get production from your high priced guys your going to be playing from behind. Buchholz and Lincecum both decided to show up tonight.

5) Final Thoughts, I wouldn’t have wanted to be in these guys shoes tonight, and Hixville took a really bad beat. Was it enough to get him off his game, or will we see a wild 3-1 come back by him. Favre’s hitters really showed up for him tonight, and was able to put him over the top. This has been a fun contest for me to follow, and again just want to thank Draftstreet for putting this event on.
