Welcome to the recap of round 5 between Hixvillehunk and Brettfavre444. Favre was able to squeeze out a late inning win last night, and take a 3-1 lead in the series. He’s going to look to put it away tonight, and not allow a great player like Hixville to get some momentum.

My Initial Thoughts On Both Lineups:

Favre has two players in his lineup tonight that aren’t starting. This is a huge advantage to Hixville tonight, and a huge mistake by Favre tonight. There pitchers are finally around the same prices, but they only have 1 pitcher that’s different.

Breaking Down Favre’s Lineup:

1) Favre decided to take two pitchers against each other again tonight. I didn’t like this strategy used by him yesterday, and don’t like it anymore tonight. I’m really surprised both players have Liriano, and think that’s a really bad pick. Toronto has been hitting well as a team, and have really good numbers against him. Ian Kennedy is a very interesting pick for me, and I still don’t trust him for cash games. Kennedy has looked good this season, but has really struggled over the past few years.

2) Both players have David Wright and Chris Young, I think both of these guys are in great spots for tonight. Morales has given up 15 ER in 30 innings this season, and I think all the right handed bats for the Mets were in play tonight.

3) Dickerson and d’Arnaud aren’t in the lineup tonight and are really going to hurt Favre tonight. This was a total oversight and shows people even the top players miss the little things sometimes. He might get lucky and get a PH, but it’s highly unlucky this turns out good for him.

4) Fielder, Kinsler, and Ethier are going to have to carry his lineup tonight. Fielder is very under priced for his upside tonight, and gets a favorable matchup against a righty. Kinsler has always hit left handed pitching better in his career, and I think the Tigers could have a big night against Duffy. Ethier is one of my favorite picks tonight, and I think all the Dodgers are in play against Turner. I really like all 3 of these picks, but don’t know if it will be enough to overcome to non starters.

Breaking Down Hixvillehunk’s Lineup:

1) Pitching is going to come down to Richards vs Dickey, and I’m going to give the edge to Hixville tonight. I think Richards is in a great spot for a win tonight, and has looked really good so far this season. The LAA hitters should be able to give Richards plenty of run support tonight. As I said with Favre, I really don’t love the Kennedy pick.

2) Hixville has Wright and Young as well and like I said above, I’m a huge fan of the Mets right handed hitters. He also has a catcher that is actually in the lineup tonight. Pacheco’s price has come up a little bit, but the Coors factor always makes for a good punt play. Mejia hasn’t been to bad this season, but it’s hard not to target any game at Coors.

3) He decided his other punt play was going to be Brandon Phillips, and at $3,582 on Draftstreet how can you go wrong. Phillips doesn’t have a great matchup, but has had success in his career against Gallardo. This pick doesn’t shock me, Hixville has really used BvP a lot of the years.

4) Stanton, Pujols, and Davis are the players he decided to spend his salary on tonight. Stanton is my top overall pick of the night, and I really love the Marlins against Maholm tonight. I think Stanton is in a great spot to have a big game for him. Pujols is always in play against left handed pitching, and has really looked like himself this season. Rajai Davis like Kinsler is in a really good spot tonight, and I think will have a great chance to get on base and swipe a bag. I really like where Hixville decided to spend on hitters tonight.

How The Game Played Out:

1) Hixville was able to outscore Favre with hitters and pitchers tonight. Hixville really didn’t get a great start from Richards, but he was still able to do enough to pick up the win. Favre’s strategy of using pitchers facing each other didn’t pay off again tonight. I really don’t understand that strategy, and would love to know why he’s doing it.

2) The Met hitters really came up big tonight, but both players had them. Dickerson did have a PH walk tonight, but .75 from two players is tough to overcome. Pacheco was a great value play at catcher for Hix tonight, and ended up scoring 5 fantasy points tonight. Anytime you can get 5 points from a value play, you’re probably going to have a good night.

3) The Marlin players showed up for Hix tonight, and he was able to get 11.75 out of them. Brandon Phillips was able to have a really good night also, and provided extreme value for Hixiville. Before lock RotoGrinders Cameron was telling me he was on Phillips, and I honestly thought he was crazy but he nailed it as did Hixville. Pujols, Butler, and Davis were all able to score positive points and nothing really went wrong for him tonight.

4) Favre’s lineup was a disaster tonight and it started right at lock with 2 players out of the lineup. Ethier had a really bad night at the plate, but I still think he was a good play and just had a bad night. Favre lost on the value play tonight as well, and was outscored by 8.5 by guys under 4k tonight. The Young/Wright combo came through for him, but unfortunately Hixville had them as well.

5) Final Thoughts, the oversight in a $10,000 series is a huge mistake. Hixville absolutely crushed Favre tonight. I really hope Favre is able to bounce back Sunday, and give us some fireworks. Hixville nailed his picks tonight and this might be exactly what he needs to get going. I really hated the pitching strategy used by Favre tonight, and I think Hixville had the better team, before and after lock. Sunday brings a lot of Aces on the mound, and it will be very interesting to see what kind of strategies these guys use.
