Information Overload: Week 1

Using highly valuable visuals, Aaron Hendrix looks closely at various advanced data sets and then comments on how we can best take advantage in daily fantasy football each week.

Week 1

I’m a writer by trade. A pretty damn good one if I say so myself (and humble as well). I’ve made my living for well over a decade by putting words together. I could wax poetic . If I wanted to, I could put together a lengthy introduction filled with a thoughtful and meaningful message about how life relates to fantasy football. I did write a novel after all.

Here’s the thing though. I think being entertained is overrated when it comes to taking in fantasy football content. Most of us live busy lives and are serious about making money with DFS. We want one thing. Information. Meaningful information that will help us make informed decisions that will put money in our pockets. That’s where this article will help you.

I’m not going to tell you who to play or how to build your lineup. Ultimately that is your decision and one you need to be confident with. I will, of course, tell you my thoughts on players and situations and who I personally will play, but what the Information Overload is primarily about is giving you “meaningful information that will help you make informed decisions to put money in your pocket.”

I’ve already wasted a minute or two of your time. My apologies and it won’t happen again. (Maybe).

    Matchups to Exploit:
Kenyan Drake vs TEN (32nd against RB)

What? The Titans gave up the 4th least rushing yards in 2017 and had a DVOA against the run ranked 7th. How do you figure they are dead last?

The Titans gave up the most receiving yards to RB’s in 2017. Did you mix up the two stats?

Hey tj. Methinks you were a bit confused. The section that comes from is defense against type of receiver… so it is indeed referring to the Titans propensity to be gashed by RBs via the pass.

Great stuff man. I did notice this however.

    “Washington receivers against Minnesota”

Do you mean SF WR’s vs MIN or WAS WR vs ARI. I think its the former but just wamma make sure

Looks like you put in alot of work

This is a good read. Thanks for the research. Never used pace of play in NFL DFS. Interesting to see how it correlates to making better decisions.

    Great article!

Awesome article Hazy, though I think there might be a mix up in the final section regarding Defenses and Sack Adv/Dis Adv…you have Baltimore listed in both lists, and on the disadvantage side you have a few defenses I think ARE going to be used in Jax / Bal / Min / NO, and yet you mention them not being owned so it makes me think you copied in a different list than intended

    good stuff! Thank you.

Oops. You know how sometimes your mind is thinking one thing but the words come out wrong. Yea, that’s what happened here. Thanks for pointing it out!

So the reason Cole is so cheap on FD is cause the giants secondary is good at shutting down Wr 1’s?

Probably not – pricing came out long before Lee was out for the season. I also highly doubt Janoris Jenkins shadows Keelan Cole.

THis actually might be the best article I’ve read in years in any sport….. well done!

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone – don’t be afraid to ask questions. Anyone that knows me knows I LOVE to talk football. I annoy everyone during MLB season asking if it’s NFL time yet.

Yea – I have to build my lineups and see where I come out before publishing them. I have a good feel where I’ll be but want to see how the percentages shape up.
