KillaB's Week 7 Cash-Game Lineup Recap
This week, I take a look back at my DraftKings cash-game lineup. Let me be the first to say I am quite embarrassed with who I rolled out at TE. For the sake of my fellow daily fantasy players, I hope I was the only one in the industry who started Cameron.
Starting Quarterback
Colin Kaepernick (15.32) – This play went against a couple guiding principles (consistent QB play and don’t reach for a value QB even if the matchup is good too great) I have in cash games. Denver has given up the 10th-most points to QBs this season. Given Kaepernick’s upside due to his running ability, I felt his floor was fairly high in this matchup. At $6,500, you definitely could not argue with the price. Even in a cash game, I felt this “value” play was not all that risky.
Starting Running Backs
Le’Veon Bell (28.5) – I continue to be amazed at how cheap DK prices Bell. He is a PPR beast and is the focal point of the Steelers’ offense. You will continue to see me roll him out in most cash games until DK bumps his price closer to the top RBs. Outside of Forte and Murray, Bell has been the most consistent running back who also gets a ton of targets in the passing game.
Andre Ellington (22) – It pained me to watch Ellington gash Oakland up and down the field, only to see Stephon Taylor vulture his TDs. Ellington took advantage of the Raiders being the seventh-worst defense against RBs. Ellington could’ve had an even bigger day if it wasn’t for Taylor stealing TDs like the thief we all know him to be (sorry if anyone knows him personally)!
Starting Wide Receivers
Golden Tate (34.4) – Hmmm…you say Calvin isn’t playing? You say Detroit’s top two tight ends are not playing? You tell me Detroit’s running backs are both playing banged up? Who else do they have left on offense? Let me introduce you to a guy by the name of Golden Tate. Yes, the same guy that tweeted a picture of himself holding a cup of coffee when Percy Harvin was traded. Tate was reasonably priced at $5,900, but that price is too good to be true when you are Stafford’s only target. Did I mention he was playing the porous Saints’ pass D? If only I could’ve inserted him in the other two WR slots on DK as well…
Kelvin Benjamin (15.1) – I was eyeing Benjamin’s injury all week. The matchup was not all that great, but Green Bay is dealing with some significant injuries. The Packers were without one of their top CBs in Sam Shields. Tramon Williams was a game time decision who ended up playing but almost assuredly at less than 100%. Unfortunately, the Carolina offense struggled most of the day. Thankfully, a garbage-time TD allowed Benjamin to cover his value.
Brandon Marshall (10.8) – Coming off a week where Rodgers threw for 260 yards and three TDs against Miami, I was looking for Cutler to have a similar day. How dare me?!? Ol’ gunslinger Cutler was back to his old ways, which directly influenced Marshall’s production. Luckily I didn’t have to pay a top-tier price for Marshall, as DK severely discounted him at $6,300. For me, the price was too good to pass up even though Marshall did not hit value.
Starting Tight End
Jordan Cameron (1.5) – Let’s be fully transparent here, Cameron caught one ball for five yards. Yes, I said one ball for five yards. Oh and by the way, it happened on the last drive with three minutes left in the game. I encourage strong feedback from the peanut gallery on this play. Ready…GO!
FLEX
Ahmad Bradshaw (22.8) – Wow! I expected a good game but I didn’t expect this great of a return. Bradshaw’s price is continuing to climb on DK. I had a tough time deciding between the $4,700 RBs. Lacy, Morris, and Bradshaw all seemed to hold good value based on their matchups. The deciding factor was Bradshaw’s ability in the pass game. Ahmad averages 3.5 receptions per game. Add in the fact that he gets the majority of the red-zone snaps and it was enough for me to separate him from the rest of the group.
Starting Defense
Bills (10) – I spent a little more than I normally would at defense. The Vikings’ offense has really struggled the past couple games, which made a good matchup for the defense at home. Although the defense didn’t find their way into the end zone, I can’t argue with two picks and five sacks.
