FSL has some great offerings for Daily Fantasy Hockey. For those of you winding down on NFL season right now, you’re left with NBA and NHL until Baseball rolls around. There’s a lot of money to be made out there for hockey, and FSL is one of the sites where you can make a good amount of it. Here are my weekly plays, picks, and lineup strategy from now until next Friday!
Center
With Stamkos in a funk and Crosby’s injury, it’s time to consider other options for your money at the center position. Henrik Zetterberg is 3rd in cost, but delivers very good value at $75. Evgeni Malkin is a solid option at $64 and his value should continue to rise in the weeks to come. Use him while he’s cheap. As for value picks, Patrice Bergeron has dropped down to $36 and John Tavares remains way undervalued at $34. Tavares has been hot lately and is worth playing above many higher priced picks.
Still waiting to see when Jordan Staal will be available on FSL…
Left Wing
It’s tough to find a good steal at left wing. Simon Gagne remains crazy cheap at $10, but he has yet to catch fire since his return. I pencil him in there when I’ve got a pricey goalie to open up space elsewhere. Daniel Sedin is the highest priced option at $78, but well worth the investment. There are a host of interchangeable options in the $60 range worth starting (Dustin Brown, James Neal, Bobby Ryan, Milan Lucic). If you’ve got written proof that he’ll be playing, you can do well with Marian Gaborik at $55. Brenden Morrow has also been surging lately, and his cost hasn’t caught up ($44).
Right Wing
My target picks at right wing haven’t changed much as of late. I’m still liking Corey Perry ($73) and Loui Eriksson ($63) whenever possible. Alex Ovechkin ($76) is bound to rise in price at some point. Use him now while he’s priced reasonably. On the bargain rack, you can still find Ilya Kovalchuk at a meager ($21).
Defense

Dustin Byfuglien and Kris Letang continue to be in a world apart from other defensemen. They’re both averaging about 13.6 fantasy point per game, but will cost you in the high $60’s to add them to your lineup. Typically, they’re giving you value there. Beyond those two, you’ll want to save your pennies fill those defensive spots with some of these guys: Niklas Lidstrom ($45), Shea Weber ($40), Duncan Keith ($27), or Tobias Enstrom ($36). If you really want to be thrifty, take a chance on Zach Bogosian ($15) or Dmitry Kulikov ($26).
Goalie
I don’t recommend paying too close attention to price when picking your goalie. Go with the guy with the best chance of winning. That said, if you’re torn between several options, here are some #1 goalies who give good return for the money: Marc-Andre Fleury ($109), Roberto Luongo ($106), and Brian Boucher ($108). All of these should see their values climb in the weeks ahead.
Opposing teams to target with your goalie selection right now:
- New Jersey (2 wins in past 10 games)
- Edmonton (even worse)
- Toronto (dropped 3 of last 4 and 6 of last 8)
- Montreal (lost 4 of last 5). Struggling to score.
- LA (lost 4 straight). Giving up lots of goals.
The LandShark Lineup
The Canucks have won 7 straight and have a favorable matchup against the Oilers tonight. Should be an easy choice to start Schneider (expected to get the start). Then again, these are the games that tend to bring streaks to an end… Even so, I’m stocking up on Canucks up front as well.
Playing in the standard 10-team, 575 point cap league for Friday, here is my roster:
| Position | Player | Salary | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goalie | Cory Schneider | $120 | several other tempting options, but none of them come cheap: Howard ($113), Pavelec ($128) and Crawford ($118) are good bets. |
| Center | Henrik Zetterberg | $74 | Hank is the top option at center tomorrow, so make room for him. He’s looking to extend his point streak to 9 games. |
| Center | Henrik Sedin | $71 | 50 points on the season. Too bad they’re almost all assists. Still, he’s always a plus player and should set up his brother once or twice against Edmonton. |
| Left Wing | Daniel Sedin | $78 | 50 points on the season. Imagine that. Has a goal in 4 of his last 5. Plan for 5 in 6. |
| Left Wing | Alex Burrows | $50 | Burrows is starting to find his form. Two straight 2-point games. |
| Right Wing | Patrick Kane | $47 | Considered inserting Gaborik in here. Kane’s finally back to full health after the leg injury. I like his chances against the Senators. |
| Right Wing | Loui Eriksson | $64 | Eriksson is riding a 5-game point streak. |
| Defense | Tobias Enstrom | $44 | Enstrom ranks 4th in scoring on defense and is reasonably priced. |
| Defense | Dmitry Kulikov | $26 | the rookie defenseman has come on strong lately for Florida. Tough to find better value in that price range. |
