The oddsmakers have made their picks and Invictus Gaming is the top team. The RotoGrinders projections (located in the LineupHQ optimizer) agree from a raw points perspective. IG surprised us with a bland performance in the mid-season cup followed by an opening match loss to Team WE. They were able to bounce back against Suning with a 2-0 sweep, but the cloak of invincibility seems to be nowhere in sight for this team.

Edward Gaming boasts the next highest total among the available options, and in general the LPL team are more fantasy friendly than teams in the LCK. For instance, Edward Gaming is just 8th best in LPL with a 13.35 kills per game average going back to the start of 2020. However, in LCK that would be the best mark in the entire league. This trend continues across many fantasy relevant stats, and it makes the cross league contests very tricky when factoring in price, upside, & ownership.

LCK is kicking off their season with an elite matchup of top teams. DragonX and T1 are both looking to make their way to the world stage later this year. The quest starts now with T1 entering the contest with the oddsmaker’s edge. Look for these teams to avoid death and focus on objectives to a much higher degree than we’ll see in the LPL matchups.

In terms of League of legends DFS picks, an interesting underdog to watch here for daily fantasy sports tournaments is Rogue Warriors. Their opponents will have high ownership, and we can see in this chart that they do perform very well in wins from a fantasy perspective. Both their kills per win and assists per kill in wins make them an attractive underdog in the top heavy GPP formats.

Another attractive option in the LCK is T1, as they have an opponent who could possibly keep the game close and help extend kill totals in the teens. While that isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement, a ceiling type of performance here would likely come at more generous ownership than you might find on a typical LPL team. They carry an assist to kill ratio that might start to look appealing in DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy sports contests should the kill count rise above their median expectation.

Projected Starting Lineups

Note: These lineups are subject to change and typically get announced by the LPL by late morning. LCK lineups aren’t typically confirmed until approx. 1 hour before the game start time.

League of Legends DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel

ZWuji – CPT – $10,800: In all honesty the most likely outcome is that Rogue Warriors get their butts kicked by Invictus, but you need not study too many slates of LOL DFS to understand the value of the unexpected outcome. Not only does the Rogue Warriors stack have high upside as a team, but they would also decimate the teams that include the incredibly chalky IG stacks. ZWuji has nearly a 31% share of team kills in wins as compared to 26% of kills in losses. Chances are that a Rogue Warriors win would have to be bloody, an this is the guy who going to be summoning a lot of that damage.

Rookie – Mid – $8,000: I know you are going to make more than one lineup, and if you aren’t playing RW I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be looking at Rookie. The Rogue Warriors are INCREDIBLE at something that most people can’t say for themselves. They are awesome at being killed. They average 20.71 deaths per loss since the start of the year, and Rookie is likely the be involved in many deaths among Warriors in this game. Boasting a near 19% of assists in wins, Rookie is worthy chalk in a high upside matchup.

OnFleek – JNG – $5,800: The jungle position is not loaded with obvious options on this slate, and if you are looking to get weird with a secondary stack then Sandbox could be your jam. OnFleek is by no means an attractive play in a vacuum, but you can reach some of the higher upside LPL stacks more easily by gambling on a cheap LCK stack in a weak matchup. OnFleek (assuming he starts and plays all matches) has upside in the assist department and dies less often as a % of team deaths when they win. You can’t score fantasy points during your death timer, and you can’t expect to best a 12,000 lineup field without taking some risks. A calculated exposure to a low owned LCK team like SandBox could be the difference maker you need for a $50,000 GPP takedown.
