League of Legends LPL/LCK DFS Preview: Friday, June 19th
Slate Overview
Phew, was Thursday’s slate a wild one with Victory Five being the only favorite able to pull off the win. If you wanted to score big GPP money you needed to stack the two LCK underdogs, which wasn’t a strategy very many DFS’ers deployed. Team Dynamics entered the Summer Split out for blood as they racked up a total of 22 kills in their first game against KT. The solo lineup that took down the $15 GPP used a traditional 4 (DYN) – 3 (SP) build with HyBriD in the CPT spot.
So in the first two slates since the return of the LCK, 1-2 LCK teams were in optimal builds. Is this a trend that is going to continue? It’s certainly possible, especially since there have only been four games on either slate so far. As the “Strategy Refresher” points out below, I still expect the LPL to generally be the higher-scoring league over the course of the season but there will be days where LCK teams will end up outscoring their counterparts. For now, it’s worth pointing out that the LCK teams are still coming in at significantly lower ownership than the LPL teams which at the very least makes the LCK teams (especially the underdogs) nice leverage options in large-field tournaments.
