Lineup Recap: Week 4

This week I take a look back at my DraftKings cash-game lineup. It was a big week for some players in the NFL. If you didn’t have two or more of those guys, you probably didn’t profit this week. Let me introduce you to Week 4…Team Dud!

Starting Quarterback

Colin Kaepernick (21.52) – I was really hoping for a bounce-back game from Kap. He was at home and facing a poor pass D in the Philadelphia Eagles. Combine that with the mediocre run D and I thought Kaepernick would exploit both. I thought the upside of the matchup would allow him to cover his price no problem. Kap put up OK numbers, but quite honestly it was disappointing for the expectations I had.

Starting Running Backs

Matt Asiata (31) – Another week without AP and for some reason DraftKings still hasn’t raised Asiata’s price to a starting RB level. I am not saying he needs to be priced near the top tier RBs, but at the same time he shouldn’t be priced down by the backup running backs. Oh and did I mention he was facing one of the worst run defenses in all of the NFL. Although Bridgewater played better than most thought, you had to imagine they were going to stick with the run game to relieve some of the pressure for the young rook.

Eddie Lacy (12.9) – Back to the ole’ Packer running game. Could you imagine the type of QB Rodgers would be if he had some type of running game?! Oh you mean kind of like last year? I am not sure it is time to put Eddie in the sophomore slump category, but he definitely has got off to a slow start. He was priced to be had on DK and his matchup wasn’t bad either. All in all, his game was a dud for what should have been. Luckily he found the end zone once otherwise it would’ve been worse.

Starting Wide Receiver

Julian Edelman (6.3) – Let me wipe my eyes again. Yep…6.3 points in a PPR scoring system. Well I guess I pick the wrong week to find Edelman’s floor. I was sick watching the Patriots offense Monday night. Mr. Brady is starting to look more like the sixth-round draft pick most thought he would be. Too early to start the chant…Mallett, Mallett, Mallett!

Jeremy Kerley (1.3) – Anyone else buy into the Kerley hype? It goes something like this….Decker will be limited or possibly not play at all, Kerley had seen 24 targets in the first three games, and with Geno struggling they may look to the quick bubble screens or easy dump offs to get him going. All of this pointed to Kerley having a decent game to cover his small price tag….or not! One reception for three yards on three targets. Maybe the J-E-T-S forgot they have a decent QB sitting behind the crappy one they are starting.

Jeremy Maclin (9.7) – This is starting to sound like a broken record. Another good matchup for a WR who has had plenty of targets the first three weeks. The one positive: Maclin’s floor wasn’t like the other two WRs I played. Unfortunately, I happened to hit his floor to this point in the season.

Starting Tight End

Jimmy Graham (21.6) – I feel like I lucked out with this play. I believe going into the fourth quarter Jimmy might have had two receptions. The nice part about the Graham play was the Saints being down a ton all game. Brees had no other choice but to sling the ball around all game. Luckily Jimmy got one of the two garbage-time TDs.

FLEX

Donald Brown (9.4) – 36 touches against Buffalo in Week 3, including five receptions in a PPR format. OK, Brown will not repeat that stat line, but give me half that at his $5.4 price tag. He was facing one of the worst defenses against the run and you knew SD would be living in the red zone. What a dream matchup for the price!!! Dream production = 10 rushes – 19 yards…luckily Brown had four receptions for 35 yards. What a dud!

Starting Defense

Chargers (10) – Give me the defense facing the poor Jacksonville Jaguars at home. The price wasn’t too hefty and it seemed to make the most sense for a cash-game play. If only I could’ve received this production from a couple of my WRss. Is that too much to ask?! Ten points.Ten lousy points!
