Lineup Recap: Week 5
If I had a million dollars (singing)…
This week I review one of my many attempts to win a million dollars. Like I said, I made many lineups, hence the Austin Davis and Brian Quick combo that you’re about to see.
This lineup leaves me still signing, in a God awful voice: “If I had a million dollars…”
Starting Quarterback
Austin Davis (31) – The matchup couldn’t have been much better. Philly D gives up the second-most points to QBs. You had to figure Philly would play with a decent lead most of the game. Davis didn’t disappoint one bit.
Starting Running Backs
Le’Veon Bell (16.8) – Another great matchup against one of the worst defenses against running backs. On most days 16.8 points would be good, but it was a disappointment for the matchup and what could’ve/should’ve been. I felt so strong about this play that I rolled him out across the industry. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out as I had hoped.
DeMarco Murray (27.2) – You can’t get any more consistent than Murray. If this guy stays healthy, the Cowboys are a completely different team. He is averaging 27.1 fantasy points per game. Maybe you didn’t hear me: he’s averaging 27.1 points…
Starting Wide Receivers
Victor Cruz (5.2) – I bought into the hype and thought Manning and Cruz were back on the same page. Cruz is also a great boom-or-bust play for a GPP. Unfortunately, I found another one of his bust weeks.
Vincent Jackson (25.4) – It seemed like the stars were finally aligning for Vincent. Mike Evans was out, the new starting QB loves to look Jackson’s way, oh and by the way the matchup wasn’t too shabby either. Clearly the stars were truly aligned in the form of a 8-144-1 line.
Brian Quick (25.7) – If I was going with a GPP lineup which had Davis as my QB, I needed to find his favorite hookup. Clearly Quick is Davis’ guy. It definitely helped that St. Louis needed to play catchup, and Quick was the main beneficiary of Davis’ good day.
Starting Tight End
Delanie Walker (8.7) – Walker has been very good this year, and the DK price was very favorable with a great matchup against the Cleveland D. Tennessee got out to a huge lead, but unfortunately Wright/Hunter were on the other end of those TD passes. If only this play and the Cruz play would’ve panned out, I would still be popping champagne 48 hours later.
FLEX
Emmanuel Sanders (20.9) – Good luck trying to win the millionaire tourney without a Bronco on your team. Sanders has been the most consistent WR for Manning so far this season.
Starting Defense
Broncos (4) – Playing at home against a backup QB seemed to have plenty of opportunities for turnovers. I was really banking on Drew Stanton giving the Broncos D an easy TD or two. Instead I got three sacks instead. I guess it’s better than a goose egg.
