Undervalued

Week 4 is in the book, less the Pats and Dolphins MNF game tonight. The following list of players popped up with rising value heading into Week 5. Keep an eye on their costs on your favorite daily fantasy site, as they could be a bargain in the near-future.

legarrette blount

Ryan Torain – Torain received 17 carries and put up a solid 70 yards and a TD in a close game against the Eagles this week. Clinton Portis strained his groin this week, and he is known to miss games due to injury. The matchup in Week 5 vs. the Packers isn’t ideal, but Torain could put up nice numbers if Portis misses the game. Even before Portis’ groin was strained, Torain was involved in the game. I’d be surprised to see Torain get less than 15 carries in Week 5.

Kevin Kolb – Mike Vick went down early, and in his absence Kevin Kolb completed 22-of-35 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown and an interception. Speculation on Vick’s injury ranges from three broken ribs, to a hairline fracture in his collar bone, to him being fine. The odds are stacked against Vick playing next week, and I would expect Kevin Kolb to be starting come Sunday against the 49ers. Ironically, McNabb was sidelined early last season with a Rib-Injury while playing for the Eagles.

LeGarrette Blount – I was surprised when Blount didn’t get drafted. I was also surprised when the Titans cut him. In his first game as a Buc, he upt up 4.5 YPC against the Steelers and had a TD on 6 carries. He’s competing with the likes of Cadillac Williams and Earnest Graham. I love both of those guys, but Blount would clearly be the better feature back. Coming off the bye week gave Raheem Morris a chance to work him into the offense. He’s not a great play Week 5 against the Bengals, but Week 6 they get the Saints, Week 7 – St. Louis, and Week 8 – Arizona. Keep an eye on Blount.

Michael Bush – Darren McFadden is having hamstring issues, on his other hamstring now. He’ll likely be a game-time decision, and if he sits Michael Bush will shoulder the load. Bush is a very talented back, and has put up monster numbers in the past. Keep an eye on McFadden’s hammy for Week 5.

Kevin Walter – Andre Johnson is injured, Jacoby Jones left the game week 4, and Owen Daniels is non-existent so far this season after his ACL injury. That leaves one fully-healthy option in Houston. Walter should be a solid play in Week 5 vs. the Giants.

Matt Forte – After two straight dud weeks, Forte’s cost may have dropped on your favorite daily fantasy site. He could have a bounce back game vs. Carolina in week 5…but it all depends on the cost you can get him at.

Max Hall – The young QB has been generating a lot of Hype, and after this week the Cardz might be respectfully throwing in the towel on this season. They look absolutely awful, and there’s no reason not to get Max Hall some playing time now. He is showing the potential to be a starting QB in the NFL. If he gets the nod, it will be a tough first game vs. the Saints pass defense, but his value could be great for Week 5 if you want to stock up at the flex positions.

Dexter McCluster – Coming off a Bye week, McCluster is a sneaky play this week vs. the Colts in Week 5. The Chiefs have been looking great this season, but you know that Manning will have the Colts prepared after a tough loss to the Jaguars. McCluster only had 3 carries and 1 rush in Week 3, but he is too good to not get more involved in the offense moving forward. He has the ability to score anytime he touches the ball, so I would expect Weiss to make sure he gets looks against an offensive juggernaut like the Colts.

Santonio Holmes – Santonio Holmes is coming off of suspension, and should immediately grab the WR1 spot for the Jets. With Sanchez looking En Fuego as of late, Holmes could be poised for some big games. Make sure to check your sites salary system to see how they account for Holmes in Week 5.

John Carney – If a site you play on doesn’t manually adjust players, John Carney could be a steal this week at Kicker. Hartley performed terribly in the first three weeks, going 4-7. After getting the start, Carney chipped in all three of his attempts. In the Saints high power offense, he could easily regain the #1 Kicker spot that he held for much of last season.
