The Masters Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer DeChambeau

There’s nothing quite like Masters week, especially when the weather cooperates at Augusta. The forecast calls for only one day with rain and wind concerns (Friday), with all the other days looking great.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

The Masters Weather Forecast

Thursday, April 10th

Calm winds in the early morning, gradually building through the day but peaking in the afternoon at just 5-10 mph. All in all, a pretty perfect Day 1.

Friday, April 11th

Our only chance for rain in the tournament, models have been bringing some light showers Friday morning, with a chance for storms in the afternoon (especially late). Winds will be highest in the afternoon, and should come in at 10-15mph sustained but gusts could be 25mph or higher.

Saturday, April 12th

Right back to perfect weather on Moving Day. Winds will stay at or below 10 mph all day, and look to hold pretty steady.

Sunday, April 13th

Another day with plenty of sunshine and light winds, 5-10 mph winds throughout the morning and afternoon.

The Masters Weather Thoughts

Almost perfect weather, with Friday being the only day of noteworthy concern. I have a preference for a Thursday PM / Friday AM draw, as it helps avoid the worst winds of the tournament Friday afternoon.
