Friday, August 10th

Happy Friday! We have a big 14-game slate that is very well spread out with both pitching and hitting options. There are a ton of viable pitchers, with a couple of groupings that are very difficult to separate. I’ll talk through my preferred spots on both sides, but this is one of those nights where a similar case can be made for almost everything, so don’t be concerned if your research leads you another way.

At first glance, I’m seeing a lot more one off power than full stacks with the bats, but the salaries may end up forcing some stacks unless going very cheap at pitcher. Let’s jump into these pitchers and see what we see.

FRIDAY NIGHT PITCHING

THE FRIDAY NIGHT ACE

Gerrit Cole vs Mariners – Cole is alone at the top of the pitching ranks tonight with his 35.1% strikeout rate well ahead of the field, and he appears to have settled back down after a few starts with some control issues.

How many players from one team is an acceptable stack? I love a bunch of Yankees and Twins tonight.

There’s no set answer for that. What I’m saying about tonight’s slate is that you shouldn’t be forcing in extra plays because it makes for a stack, but rather to play your top plays at each spot. If they happen to be on the same team, that’s fine. Whether it’s two players or five players on a team.

If you run into a point where you can’t afford a bat you like, then at that point, I would add to a stack around the bats you’ve started with.

If building 150 teams, what is your typical top pitcher exposure , and top hitter exposure %? I have tried many different build and had succes/failure with many different settings. For example, today I want to have Stanton in 100 of my lineups. I won’t, but I want to. Just looking for your input. Thank you

This is such an involved question, i can’t give you a helpful answer in a short space. it’s so slate specific, and related to the number of entries, your total exposure between all contests, so many other things. I will quite often have 100% on a pitcher, but then on some nights (like tonight), I may not even hit 30%.
With hitters, it varies so much, I’m sorry I can’t be more precise, there are just so many factors that go into this.
