Monday, June 25th
Happy Monday, y’all! I hope you had a good weekend, I slept a lot and it was glorious! We are back with a 10-game slate tonight, and it is very heavily slanted towards the pitching. Bats will be a little trickier to find tonight, but we’ll see what we can do. I’m going to dive right in because we have a lot of arms to talk about tonight.
MONDAY NIGHT PITCHING
ACE IS THE PLACE WITH THE HELPFUL STRIKEOUT RATE
Justin Verlander vs Blue Jays – Verlander just keeps rolling along, posting another dominant start last week, his 14th straight quality start. He has the lowest ERA of all qualified starters in the league at 1.60, the 7th lowest SIERA of 2.95 and the 5th highest strikeout rate at 32%. His 26% hard contact allowed is the 2nd lowest, adding safety to his upside and consistency. There’s always the possibility of a home run or two with his high fly ball rate, but the elite control, 5.2% walks make those essentially a non-issue. There is really no need to overthink this.
