Thursday, June 28th
Happy Split Slate Thursday! We’ve got another typical Thursday in MLB with a couple of smaller slates. The evening Main Slate is just four games, while the early slate features five games on DK/FDRFT starting at 1:05 ET and FanDuel starting an hour earlier at 12:10 ET for a six game early slate. I’ll tackle this early slate first and then be back in a few hours with the Main Slate analysis.
EARLY SLATE PITCHING
The big name and big salary pitcher on this slate is Clayton Kershaw, but there are still a lot of question marks around him, so let’s start there and work our way down.
Clayton Kershaw vs Cubs – I desperately want to see vintage Kershaw again, but there is a chance that it’s just gone forever. In his first start off the DL, he lasted just three innings on 55 pitches. He got a few strikeouts, but was not generating swings and misses. He will still be watched closely here, as they are not going to rush him back to a full workload, so even if he pitches well, his usual upside is not here. I am not overly concerned with what the matchup is, this is simply a matter of whether he gets back to being Kershaw or not.
