Thursday, September 13th
Happy Thursday everyone. There is not a lot going on tonight on this pitching-sparse slate. We’ve also got this messy double-header situation with the Marlins-Mets, and it looks as if this game is not actually going to be counted on DK tonight, even though it’s listed on the slate. That makes it just a five-game slate on DK. On FanDuel, they have it set to start their main slate 30 minutes early where they are counting the second game of the doubleheader. Right now, I can’t figure out what is happening on FantasyDraft, as they have the game listed, but they haven’t changed the start time. At this point in the day it looks like we may finally have a dry night in the Northeast and be able to get all these games in.
THURSDAY NIGHT PITCHING
THE ONLY PITCHER ON THE SLATE
Clayton Kershaw at Cardinals – It’s still not vintage Kershaw, but we are looking at 12 straight quality starts, a combined two walks in his last six starts and only one start all season allowing more than three runs. This dude is absolutely still a real life ace. We are all sad about the drop in strikeouts as that does directly affect his DFS ceiling, but the guy has a 2.42 ERA and 3.29 SIERA, which makes 10 straight seasons with an ERA under 3.00. Unbelievable. Against all these righties for St. Louis, I’m not looking for more than this average strikeout rate, but he’ll get some easy ground ball outs, won’t beat himself with walks, and there’s no reason to expect anything but another quality start here. There is not much points per dollar upside, and you could say he’s overpriced for what he brings to the table with his 24.6% strikeout rate, but he’s just simply the only good starting pitcher on this slate. If there’s only one good pitcher, you need to play him in cash games.
